cxiii. dream on, rockstar

Christina Yang, Meredith Grey, and Oliver Lee-Sunny all stood together with drinks in their hands. They were drinking, screaming, cheering, celebrating.

"We passed out boards!" Oliver cheered loudly as he shook his head. If he wasn't so dizzy, he would have noticed his sister shaking her head with a laugh at him.

April ran forward, making her way closer to the three crazily dancing people she knew, her own beer in hand as she rocked her head back and forth. "Yeah! Let's party!"

The music was loud, and Meredith's neighbours would most likely have leaned outside of a window and screamed for the music to be turned down. No one would have heard them, an attempt that would go unnoticed.

"Phone!" Someone shouted over the music, pointing to the phone that buzzed on the table. It was Christina's small little black coloured phone that she barely used.

The music stopped, and breathing was all anyone could really hear.

Oliver stopped moving and swayed, grabbing the phone and passing it to Christina who grabbed it and held it to her ear. "This is Doctor. Yang. Mhm. Mh-hm. Well, that does certainly give me a lot to thing about. Thank you so much for calling." Christina pulled her phone away from the side of her face, a small impressed smile twisting on her lips. "Mayo wants to give me a research lab! Guess who's back in the running!"

Everyone cheered and the music was turned up, bodies swayed. Everyone would pass out after the party ended, they'd be to hungover to even realize that they had drunken way too much for their bodies to handle.

Another phone buzzed. Olivers. His phone with the pretty blue case — one his daughter had grabbed from a grocery store and dropped it in a bag, all by accident, causing Oliver to steal — vibrated and rung from where it was in his pocket.

Meredith turned the music low, Oliver pressing the phone to his ear. "Hello! Yes, this is he. Yes, yes. Oh, that's interesting. Uhhuh, gives me something to consider. Oh, yes, yes. Thank you." Oliver grinned happily as he turned towards Christina. "Mayo wants to give me my own research lab too! And a signing bonus! Suck it, Christina!"

The room laughed.

"Everyone is gonna leave." Oliver leaned against his brother, a frown resting on his face. His cheeks were wet with tears — he's been crying. "Everyone is gonna leave and - and I'll be here all by myself."

"No one is leaving." Atlas said as he handed Oliver a box of tissues he had grabbed from a nearby nurses station.

"I turned down options ... I want to stay here! My life is here and the people in my life are leaving. Alex has Hopkins, Christina had Stanford and Mayo, Meredith has Boston, Jackson has Tulane, April ... well she has no where but here. Eliza has options. If you wanted to leave, you'd have options too!" Oliver blabbered as he sniffled. He was angry with the world today, mad that everything wasn't going his way. And! He had been denied the amazing opportunity to go to Boise, where he would help separate conjoined twins.

"Family isn't who stays." Atlas spoke softly. "It's who is in your heart, who you look for in a crowded room, who welcomes you after a long day."

"Hey you two ... Olly! Why are you crying?!" Eliza instantly wrapped her arms around her twin brother. She held onto him as she sniffled into her shoulder. "Oh, Olly."

Mark Sloan has a ring. It's pretty, shiny, wonderful. It's for Eliza.

He was ready to propose, he had the ring in his pocket and despite the fact that he wasn't wearing a tux or something fancy, he was ready.

"Ellie?" Mark questioned as he turned tilted his head. He was standing with the others that would be coming with him to Boise for the conjoined twins surgery.

"Mark! Baby. Hi." Eliza grinned as she stepped towards Mark, one arm hugging him since she held their son.

Mark backed away and looked towards Atlas who gave him a thumbs up. He took a deep breath before he looked towards the love of his life. "I love you. And I am ready to spend the rest of my life with you. I want to have so many more kids with you. A girl, another boy, as many as you'll give me. I want us to have a dog, or a cat! I want to die in your arms when we're 96 and a half. I want to spend every second that I can with you. For the rest of my life." Mark moved down onto one knee, he pulled out a small velvet box that held the ring he had boughten. "I slept around, I never thought I was going to find a love like you, and then I did. My heart was frozen — don't even make some Disney reference Atlas — and you came along and it's thawed, it's melted." Mark smiled. "Eliza Grace Lee-Sunny, will you marry me?"

Eliza didn't even hesitate. "Yes. Yes!"

Atlas jogged towards his husband, a brown paper baggie in hand. It was full of cookies and treats. "Take this with you, Der."

Derek chuckled and took the treats. "Thanks, love."

"Do you need more snacks? I have granola bars and apple sauce pouches! Ooo, and do you need a water? Or - or a coffee?" Atlas spoke quickly, swinging his bag off his shoulder and starting to pull out the things he was listed, even a coffee in a travel mug.

Derek's eyes widened, shocked that Atlas had been so prepared. He chuckled after a moment. "I'll take whatever you give me, but can I have a kiss from you first. Then a hug from the kids?"

Atlas nodded quickly, handing Derek the bag before he turned around to where Oliver, Meredith, Zola and his two kids were standing together talking. He knelt down, waving Cameron forward once he had lifted Starlee into his own arms.

A happy family, one that was stuck together by sticky cupcakes batter, not glue.

Only if happiness was a forever kinda thing.
