oiv. a steamy elevator ride

Atlas was literally running out of his home. He had slept in—more like kept hitting the snooze button so he could stay in his warm bed even longer. But hey! His beauty sleep important.

Atlas made it out of his home, to his car, and to the hospital in record time. He wouldn't be surprised if he got a speeding ticket in the mail soon.

The attending made his way to the attendings lounge and changed into his navy scrubs. Just as he leaves the lounge he bumps into Derek, literally both body's clashing together.

"You're late." Derek comments, like he had been waiting for the cardio surgeon.

"Kept hitting snooze. My bed was so warm this morning. It was empty, but warm." Atlas stuffs his hands into the pocket of his white coat.

"Maybe I could fix that. Say a sleepover tonight?" Derek attempts, and Atlas can't help but mentally cheer—even though he wasn't sure if Derek was being for real or not.

"Tonight sounds wonderful." Atlas admits, a small blush coating both men's cheeks.

The two attendings don't say anything else to each other as they walk towards the elevator—both seeming to have to go in the same direction.

Atlas so desperately wants to hold Dereks hand.

As the two wait for the elevator, Derek looks away from the floor and go Atlas. "Seattle has ferry boats."

"Really?" Atlas knew this of course, but he would give anything to listen to Derek talk about ferry boats and how Seattle had them...so he lied.

"I didn't know that. You didn't know that. Seems like we have something in common. I've been living here six weeks, I didn't know there were ferry boats." Derek said happily.

"Seattle is surrounded by water on three sides." Atlas told the neuro attending, whose eyes twinkled at the mention of a ferry boat.

Atlas could see it play in the back of his mind—ferry boat dates, maybe even a wedding on a ferry boat—why? Because he knew it would make Derek happy.

"Hence the ferry boats." Derek says as the elevator doors open.

"Now I have to like it here. I wasn't planning on liking it here. I'm from New York. Genetically engineered to dislike everywhere, except Manhattan. I have a thing for ferry boats."

They're in the elevator alone.

"And I have a thing for you." Atlas counters, watching as Derek blushes crazily.

Derek stares at Atlas for a few seconds. Than drops the granola bar he was holding — for Atlas (guessing he wouldn't have eaten) — kisses him.

He's just a tad surprised but catches on pretty fast. The two share a heated kiss, some might even say make out. Until the elevator doors ding and Atlas quickly crouches to pick up the granola bar and leaves. Sending a wink and wave to Derek who stands there looking amused.

"We'll talk later?" Derek calls out father the cardio attending.
