Beomgyu's birthday

Soobin was being shaken by Beomgyu out of frustration. "WHY HASNT HE CALLED SOOBUNNY WHY HASNT HE CALLED? IT'S ONLY MY BIRTHDAY! ITS 8 IN NEW YORK. HYUKA IS AWAKE! WHY HASNT MY BEST FRIEND CALLED ME?"

Taehyun stood in the corner out of the way. He wanted to sneak out to fly off with Kai. Anything to be out of the tension in the cabin. Soobin tried forming excuses but failed. Words failed to come out of his mouth, only incoherent sounds.

Beomgyu stopped shaking him for a second and turned his attention to Taehyun. "If you had a best friend who moved away, wouldnt you be mad if he didnt call you on your birthday?"

"Uh well..."

"WOULDNT YOU? I AM NOT BEING UNREASONABLE!"

"Yes?"

"YES IM BEING UNREASONABLE!?"

Taehyun's eyes popped open in panic. "NO! No! No no no no. Youre being very reasonable!"

Soobin cut in "stop scaring him! I wanted this to be a surprise but he actually sent you a gift so quit over reacting!"

Beomgyu released his grip and stood in giddy. He knew his best friend wouldnt forget about him. Soobin handed him a paper box with a little white card taped to it. The letter said "Happy birthday Beomgyu! Did Soobin make you wait until after you had cake? I miss Soobin's chocolate cakes. Hi Soobin! Listen, Im sorry I cant be there. Im sorry I missed so many birthdays. Im moving next year to Dominican Republic. Then maybe to Mexico. I'll have to change my number again when that happens. Enjoy the gift okay? Happy birthday again!"

Soobin took the letter out of Beomgyu's hands when he saw how much it was shaking. Beomgyu weakly said "he's moving again. His number will change. Again."

"Hey. Baby bear." Soobin kissed his forehead then handed him back the package. "Open the gift."

Beomgyu softly tore the brown paper off of the cardboard package. He ripped the tape off out of frustration and saw a picture frame filled with photos of them together. His eyes started to water seeing it. He flipped the photo frame over and saw another message. "I have the same one at my house. It'll come with me wherever I go. I miss you Beomie"

He started laughing through the tears falling down his cheeks. Taehyun asked what was so funny and he simply replied "it's bigger than Yeonjun's photo".

Taehyun and Soobin couldn't help but laugh. Seeing Beomgyu jealous was so different from his usual confidence in life. Without hesitation, the birthday boy called Yeonjun. The South Korean resident woke up annoyed in the middle of the night to hear Beomgyu bragging about how much bigger his photo was in comparison. He put him on mute and then went back to sleep after texting Kai.

Hyuka called the birthday boy shortly after to tell him he was crazy. Beomgyu took the phone outside to talk and left Taehyun and Soobin in the cabin.

Taehyun asked if he could have more cake which Soobin happily served. The older noticed him going from underweight to normal weight over the month they've been together. He also noticed he grew an inch taller. Milk was given with every meal to help him grow more. Soobin guessed he would grow to Beomgyu's height if he could continue getting his nutrients.

Soobin also noticed Hyuka's voice starting to crack in the short few seconds he heard on that phone call. If they ever were lucky enough to see him again, he probably would be unrecognizable from puberty.

Taehyun's phone started going off from the friends he's made. He got close to a small handful of people. They hung out a few times a week. Beomgyu and Soobin had to strictly warn him to not bring them anywhere near the house. It was too much of a risk to all of them even when Kai does get invisibility in a few months.
