Kai got was pulled out of school early today for a 'gathering', as his mother calls it, of a bunch of different diplomats and their families. It was really just a formal party.
His mom forced him to wear his suit to school that day. He felt overdressed to the max as everyone else wore sweatpants and sweaters. Guys playfully teased him and girls hit on him. Before he left, a girl named Yuna asked him to the spring dance. He didnt know a thing about her but accepted anyways. Jake told him how lucky he was.
The only thing exciting about this party was the high chance of Yeonjun being there. People from all over the world flew to attend this. The parents used it to catch up with old friends and network with new ones. The younger kids used it as a chance to actually be kids and the teenagers usually just hooked up. Yeonjun and Hyuka had no interest in the second. It was the one time of the year they had together if they werent in the same city which was hardly ever.
He tried calling Yeonjun but got no answer. That was actually promising. It meant he was on a flight over.
Kai's mom had the driver stop at a coffee shop. She ordered a caramel latte for herself and a vanilla cappucino for her husband. The cashier asked Kai what he wanted but he politely declined. His mom ordered him a small strawberry milkshake anyways.
He happily drank his milkshake knowing it would be the only decent drink he was going to have all day. The parties were always fancy which mean proseco and champagne for the adults, and sparkling white cider for the kids.
Yeonjun texted that he just got off the plane and was making his way over to the tailor for his suit. Kai got excited. This party wasnt going to suck anymore.
Their driver took them to the dress shop so his mom could get fitted. Yet another long boring thing the poor child had to sit through. Youtube and cookie run were there to cure his boredom when he wasnt texting his friends.
The Huening family had only been in New York for a couple of weeks and their tailors already knew them by name. Emelia, the owner, absolutely adored Kai. She greeted the small boy with a small box of chocolate truffles. Mother Huening got some macarons and a glass of sparkling water. She then walked the two over to their private dressing room and presented 3 different dresses for Mrs. Huening to try on.
Kai took a seat on the plush white leather stool and started his cookie run game. His father walked in 5 minutes later and apologized for being late. Kai greeted his father then went back to his game. Emelia looked over to see how bored the poor kid was. "Hey. I have a daughter here if you want some company. She's hanging around the back office right now."
"She isn't in school right now?" Kai asked hoping to find a way to avoid the subject.
"No, I actually home school her. Ill go get her! I'll be right back." She walked away before Kai could protest. There wasnt a single part of him that was interested in a relationship. He was going to be moving soon so what was the point?
Emelia came back with a girl next to her. Kai had to admit, she looked beautiful. She politely waved to Kai and introduced herself. "Hi. Im Wonyoung!"
His cheeks started to blush. "Hi... Im Kai. Nice to meet you!"
Emelia looked between the two with pride from what she started. "Im going to check on your parents Kai."
The two 12 year olds found themselves unable to stop staring at each other. They both nervously laughed as Wonyoung took a seat next to Kai. He thought she looked like a princess. Long black hair, big almond eyes, pink tinted apple cheeks and a magazine worthy smile.
Kai nervously offered her one of the truffles from the box. She said "thank you" as she took one. He then found himself asking what being home schooled was like.
