Soobin washed the dishes from breakfast as Beomgyu sat, staring at his phone. Beomgyu was too upset to wash the dishes today. Taehyun wanted to say something but closed his mouth.

Beomgyu slammed his hands on the table when he saw Yeonjun calling him. He angrily answered "why isnt my best friend answering my calls? Did you kill him?"

"Yeah sure I killed him. Thats exactly why Im calling you out of all people. You got me! No idiot. Im calling to tell you to stop fucking calling him! WE are BUSY!"

"PUT HIM ON THE PHONE AND STOP HOGGING MY BEST FRIEND!"

"HE ISNT EVEN HERE! HE IS ON A DATE WITH HIS GIRLFRIEND!"

That was a knife to the heart to Taehyun. He sunk into his chair and stared at the table. Soobin turned around to see the boy's reaction. It was sad.

Beomgyu being oblivious said "girlfriend? Since when does my Hyuka have a girlfriend? He doesnt date!"

"Since months ago actually."

"MONTHS?"

"Yup. Need anymore proof that Im closer to him than you? Didnt think so. Ill tell him to call you. Goodbye." Yeonjun hung up. He seriously still couldnt believe they were the same age.

Beomgyu looked over at Taehyun. Soobin sat down at the table. They tried to comfort him. Beomgyu asked "hey... you okay?"

Taehyun managed a weak smile. "Yeah. Im fine."

Soobin said "you know you dont have to go to New York with us. Honestly. It would be okay if you stayed here with Kai. You can handle yourself right?"

"I dont have any money for food. I dont know how to cook either."

Soobin replied "Ill stuff the fridge with leftovers for you. And I can leave some cash for you to buy groceries. All I ask is that you keep this place clean."

"Thanks... Ill think about it okay?"

The couple nodded as Taehyun went for a walk in the woods. He felt ridiculous for being this jealous. Hyuka and him had never talked before. He was pretty sure Kai didnt even know he existed. "Of course he doesnt like guys. Why would he like guys..."

Negative thoughts flooded Taehyun's mind. He tried to ignore them and focus on the soft crunching his feet were making whilst stepping on small twigs. Birds started to sing in the air. Mating season. "Yeah, Im looking for a friend too. And now Im talking to birds. Ive officially lost it."

He made his way back to the cabin. Soobin and Beomgyu left a note saying they went to work. Work didnt seem like such a bad idea. He could get a job. Maybe wash dishes or something under the table since he was 12. It would occupy his mind and he could make some cash of his own.

Taehyun whistled for Kai. He walked to a bigger clearing in the forest since Kai wouldnt fit in the one he was currently in. The baby dragon was now twice the size he was before. Soobin said he would stop growing in his 3rd year.

Kai flew him to the edge of the forest so Taehyun could walk the rest of the way into town.

He walked the streets until he could find his first "help wanted" sign. Vivy & Annie's Diner had one so he walked in and asked for the owner. Vivy, judging by her name tag, walked out to see the boy standing at the podium.

Taehyun introduced himself. "Hi ma'am! I'm looking for a job for the summer. Im only 12 but I'm willing to work really hard for some cash."

"Aw aren't you the cutest! My my your big eyes are adorable." She turned around and yelled for Annie to come to the front. She had one of the thickest Minnesota accents he had ever heard in his life. Taehyun heard them whispering to each other. Annie went back into the kitchen and Vivy turned her attention to him. "Sure. We could use a dish washer. Are you okay with that?"
