So what are we

Taehyun didnt feel the stress of extra classes until this month. Finals and projects were kicking his ass. His baby dragon kept roaring in the middle of the night because he was being neglected. To make it worse, Kai's voice was louder and deeper.

Soobin and Beomgyu took turns flying him to make him stop. Kai once set the top of a tree on fire because Taehyun told him no again. If it hadnt rained the night before, the entire forest wouldve burned down.

Sara did her best to control her baby. Their arguments however, consisted of loud roaring. They told people it was planes passing through or they were racing their dirt bikes.

Typically no one visited their property but it was hard to not hear the dragons from miles away. The local sheriff even showed up out of concern.

Taehyun tried to reason with Kai but his dragon was stubborn as hell. It reminded him of the human Kai. "You gotta stop roaring! Youre going to get me, Beomgyu and Soobin arrested for your noises! School is over tomorrow! I'll fly you then!"

Kai started doing happy hops. His purple scales electrified as he spun in a spiral upwards. He landed back down in place and hopped some more.

Taehyun crossed his arms. "I have work in the summer though remember? The worse you behave, the less we fly. Got it?"

Kai stomped his front legs then laid on the ground. His big purple eyes looked up as he tried to make himself as cute as possible. Even with his more matured look, he still had a perfect puppy face.

"Good. Now listen to your mom more too."

The sad purple eyes looked down at the ground then back up at Taehyun.

Taehyun started to pet his dragon. "I love you. I need to go back to studying okay?"

Kai licked Taehyun before he walked off. Sara landed next to her son and nudged him with her head. They flew off together, probably to terrorize the growing bear population in Wyoming.

If the 13 year old could pull off one more school year with the extra classes, he could move up another grade with Hyuka.

He loved that despite not actually meeting, and now barely talking, Hyuka still was huge influence on his life. Taehyun pushed himself to be better, to work harder, all to have a future with him. Even if it didnt work out, graduating early would look great on a college application.

There were a couple of people at school who were interested in dating Tae but he always turned them down. He felt like it would be cheating. It was a weird gray area to be in but a risk he was not willing to take.

School and work took up so much of his time, he realized he hadnt written back to Hyuka. Studying could wait a few minutes. He grabbed a blank piece of paper and began writing.

"Hey Kai. I can't wait to see you in person! This is the month Yeonjun's parents come to visit right? I imagine youre super busy.

I'm busy too. I've been taking some extra classes so we can graduate together. I dont know how you do it but I swear all I do is study and work on projects. My life is so boring right now. I guess it always has been. You make it interesting. Here's another picture of me.

I actually played our song for a couple of my friends at school and they loved it! Can you believe it? I guess this is all I have to say for now. I can't wait to fly with you.

P.S are you my boyfriend?"

Taehyun sealed the letter before he changed his mind. He waited for Kai to get back from his hunt so he could fly into town and drop the letter off. In the mean time, studying for the last day of finals was the priority.

Soobin made dinner and called to the younger saying it was ready. After a couple of minutes he tried yelling again. Taehyun was fast asleep with 3 different books opened on his bed. "Hey" Soobin said as he gently shook him awake. "Food is ready. You need to eat. Energy to stay awake until it's time for bed."

Dinner consisted of a bacon corn chowder, corn bread and a glass of lemonade. Soobin has been a little corn obsessed lately. Apparently they got an extra pallet of it at the grocery store he works at so he's been taking some home every day. Whether or not he was allowed to was a different story.

Soobin popped into his room a couple minutes later and asked "Im going to work. You need anything? Like for me to mail your letter?"

Taehyun's eyes went to the letter on his nightstand. His brain told him to erase the last line but he wanted to know what Hyuka thought of their relationship. He handed it over. Soobin grinned as he walked out of the room.

Mrs. Huening knocked on her son's bedroom door. "Sweetie wake up. Who is this Taehyun and why is he asking if youre his boyfriend?"

Hyuka jumped out of bed and ran to his mom. "You went through my mail?!"

"It's only my right as your mother."

"Mom that's illegal."

"Who is Taehyun sweetie? Is he your boyfriend?"

"He lives with Beomgyu and Soobin. We just like each other but we havent actually met in person."

"So he lives in Minnesota, you like each other and you still dont want to move there..."

Hyuka realized how dumb that sounded but it was the truth. He loved Taehyun with all of his heart but hated the blizzard conditions that came with the state he lived in. Teenagers were never the most logical beings. "... I could bring him to California with me."

His mom didn't say anything else. She handed him the letter and walked away.

The first thing he saw was the small attached photo of Taehyun. "Cute". It got added to the other photo he sent on his night stand.

"P.S are you my boyfriend?"

Was he? It didnt feel like a relationship but at the same time it did. People hit on Hyuka all the time yet he always turned them down. He felt guilty like he would betray Taehyun if he pursued another relationship.

There was 10 minutes until breakfast with the Chois. He wrote quickly.

"Dear Taehyunnie. I would love to be your boyfriend! Have a great first date planned for us when I get there.

I think I love you...

He found a picture of himself and attached it. Then he got ready as fast as he could and rushed downstairs to the car. The letter got put into the mail box to be collected and would hopefully get there soon.

Breakfast felt more like an interview. Both sets of parents asked about their kid's love lives. There wasnt much to tell for Yeonjun. He had a couple of dates for fun. Nothing stuck and he didnt care for it to.

Yeonjun did his best to divert the subject away from Hyuka and Taehyun but it wasnt working very well. It took a whole slide show of their trip to Canada to get them to change the subject.

The Huenings switched the topic to moving after the Dominican Republic. Hyuka's mom said "maybe Mexico isnt the place for us. I did enjoy New York quite a bit. We could also go back to D.C"

"NO!" Yeonjun yelled. "I mean... no. Not D.C please."

"Oh! Right sorry. Not D.C"

"Mom what about Madrid? I loved Spain. I also wouldn't mind going back to California."

"Yeonjun, how do you feel about New York?"

"I wouldn't hate it if we went back there."

"Kai?"

"Mom do you not remember how I left that place? It was legendary! I want to keep my legend status."

The Chois asked what he was talking about. Hyuka's dad pulled up the video. It was definitely one of the highlights of his life. Seeing his son sing in a sold out stadium and move the city with his voice. "Who says you cant preform again?"

He didnt hate that idea. Maybe he could write another song and sing it for Taehyun. Plus he could actually call him every day in the states. "So we're moving back to New York city next year?"

His parents looked at each other and nodded. "Sounds like a plan."
