Yeonjun softly knocked on the door. He told the couple to get ready for the airport. They had to leave soon.
Taehyun was already packed but he didn't want to leave the bed. He didn't want to leave period. He began to sulk while Hyuka packed the rest of his own stuff into a small backpack.
They couldn't wait any longer. The couple walked out, hand in hand, into the car. The other three were already waiting in the backseat. Hyuka's driver assisted Taehyun with his luggage and off they went.
Taehyun tried to hide the tears that were already dropping but his sniffles gave it away. Hyuka just held him tighter. He kept whispering "it's okay."
They got out of the car. Hyuka took Taehyun's luggage then walked him into the airport. He stood quietly sobbing to himself while Hyuka went off to hug Soobin and Beomgyu. Yeonjun came over and pulled him into his arms. The older didn't say anything. He just kept holding him until Hyuka was ready to come over.
Yeonjun told his best friend he would be waiting in the car. It was time for them to leave.
Hyuka titled Taehyun's chin up so he could see his boyfriend's eyes. They were beautifully sad. He got lost in them. "This isn't goodbye Taehyunnie. I'll see you again in less than a year!"
Taehyun pressed his forehead against Hyuka's chest. He cried even harder. "I-I don't want to wait a year... I love you..."
Hyuka was getting really emotional but he wanted to be strong for Taehyun. He gently titled his boyfriend's chin up again. His sleeve was used to wipe his cheeks off. He looked so cute. "I love you too. I promise I'll see you next year. We can go flying on your dragon that I still can't believe you have. We can soar the skies and cuddle up by the fireplace..." Taehyun began to smile. Hyuka heard him giggle. His boyfriend really was the cutest person in the world to him. He teased, "we can do more of what we did last night too."
Taehyun laughed again. He sniffled, wiped his eyes, then whispered "I definitely don't want to wait a year to do that again." His arms wrapped around his boyfriend's waist and he squeezed tightly.
Hyuka kissed him. "You have to go now baby. Believe me, I don't want you to but I also don't want Kai to eat me if you stay longer." He got the reaction he was hoping for. He saw Taehyun's smile. His boyfriend had the most beautiful smile too. He felt like the luckiest person in the world. "I love you so much."
Taehyun kissed him again. "I love you too." It broke his heart but he picked up his suitcase and started to walk away. Every time he turned back around, Hyuka was there to wave him goodbye.
He walked through security in complete silence. Beomgyu and Soobin tried to talk to him but he was too depressed. All of the happiness in his soul felt like it was sucked out of him the moment he picked up his suitcase.Hyuka was equally as depressed as he was taking his final. The quietness in the room seemed to make his thoughts louder. His teacher, after his last class of the day, requested to talk to him and Yeonjun in private. She said, if they wanted, they were invited back next year to continue their course load. It would go from fall through spring.
They wanted to but they had to ask their parents. Yeonjun called his parents right away. Hyuka did the same. They got approval in less than five minutes. Their meeting with the dean was scheduled within the next hour.
Yeonjun took his best friend to lunch so they could talk about their meeting. They agreed to ask for a bigger room. Hyuka floated the idea of taking five classes instead of four. His reason was to get extra credits so they could graduate faster.
Yeonjun asked "which class?"
"It should be a fun one like a music class. Easy credits. Hell we've already produced our own song. It would be cool to learn more styles."
Yeonjun agreed. They presented all of their ideas to their dean. He was against giving them a bigger room but the two teenagers insisted. The parents ended up calling in favors and they got what they wanted. The older then insisted on going furniture shopping. Hyuka began to say no but he always lost these arguments.
The younger damn near fell asleep in the furniture store. Yeonjun was taking 20 minutes to choose which couch he thought should go in their common area. That came after spending another 20 minutes picking out their coffee table and TV stand. Not to mention the hour they spent picking out a TV. Yeonjun snapped "Kai! This is important!"
Hyuka woke himself up from the couch he was laying on. "I don't care which couch we get. This one is comfy. How about we just get this one?"
"No! The color doesn't match the wood of the TV stand! Have I taught you nothing?"
"I guess not. Even more of a reason you should choose. Can we get some coffee if we're really going to do this all day?"
"You're right! We should get a coffee machine!"
Hyuka got up. He found the cashier in the back and dragged him over. He then pointed to the couch Yeonjun kept staring at and said "we will take that one. Does that come in a set of some sort?"
Yeonjun began to speak but was cut off by the employee.
"Yes. I comes with a couple pillows and a matching arm chair. We can include a lamp and a stand for it if you're interested too. They all match together wonderfully."
Hyuka cut his best friend off again before he could speak. "We'll take it! Charge it to the same card we used to buy the coffee table and TV. Thank you."
The guy walked away as Yeonjun stood there stunned. "Are you kidding me?!"
"Nope. Now can we get some coffee before you take forever to pick out more bedroom furniture?"
"Fine!"
There was a coffee shop across the street. They stumbled into it and ordered their usuals. Hyuka checked the time. Taehyun was still in the air. It wasn't time to call yet. He texted him that he missed him a lot. This year wouldn't go by quick enough.
Yeonjun dragged him back into the furniture store and they spent another two hours there. Hyuka ended up getting some more bedroom pieces like a large mirror, wall art and accent pieces. Things he definitely didn't need but things the older insisted on. All of the things ordered today, were going to be delivered in a week.
Hyuka opted to go to the spa in the hotel the Minnesotans were staying at. Yeonjun had been stressing him out for the last five hours. They got a deep tissue massages then facial masks. The saunas were next. It melted all of their previous stress away. The boys walked out pampered with glowing skin.
Yeonjun asked "why haven't we done this before?"
"No idea. Before finals next semester, we should do it again."
"You got it."
"How would you feel about me staying in Minnesota?"
Yeonjun stopped walking. "Like... forever? You?"
"Maybe."
"Wow... I don't know. You're telling me you want to stop traveling the world to live in a place you hate? You? My best friend."
Hyuka shrugged. He didn't exactly know how to tell his best friend traveling actually might be easier for him now. "You can stay with me. I think you might actually change your mind when we move to Minnesota".
"I'm definitely moving back with you. Staying is another part. I just don't understand what changed YOUR mind. I get that you love him but being a diplomat or similar has been your dream since we met."
Arguing was useless. Yeonjun would understand if only he knew. Taehyun offered Hyuka his dream life. He could have a successful career with the person he loves AND get to travel the world. Hyuka shrugged again. "It can still happen."
They dropped the subject as they went to dinner. The day ended with a late night swim and a Harry Potter marathon. The Minnesotans called when they arrived home. Yeonjun heard a really loud roar in the background and asked what that was. Soobin lied and said they were watching Game of Thrones. He believed him. One day, he would find out the truth.
