Hyuka and Yeonjun fell asleep the second the plane took off. What really sucked was they had classes to go to. It was going to be land at the airport then go straight to the university. That's exactly what they did as they rushed off of the plane. Their driver met them outside of the gate then sped down the highway so they wouldn't be late.
They arrived just in time. They missed their first two classes so once the first four were over, they had to go back to get the lecture notes.
Homework was already piling up. Yeonjun broke down their system to see if there was a chance to get extra sleep. The old system was spend four hours at the library before dinner, have a 30 minute dinner, then grab coffee. Then, they would spend the next 4 hours at their dorm doing more homework, and another two studying before going to sleep. Their average amount of sleep this semester was four. Yeonjun wanted at least 6.
Hyuka suggested skipping their sunrise tradition. That gave them an extra hour. Two days a week, they had an hour and a half between their 3rd and fourth class. Usually, they grabbed food and used that as a brain break. Yeonjun suggested switching it to a 30 minute lunch then studying. That way they could shave an hour off of their nightly studies.
Those extra two hours of sleep every night made a difference. Having no free time during the day sucked but overall, they felt less shitty throughout the week. Their grades were still exceptional. That's all that really mattered. Their professors invited them to summer programs but they had to turn them down since they were moving. One of them insisted their program would be done by the time they moved.
Hyuka and Yeonjun called their parents to ask for permission to take it. The argument was it was just one class so they would still have time to pack. They got the yes. Any opportunity to help them graduate early, they were taking.
It was very difficult to find time to talk to Taehyun. Hyuka resorted to calling him before bed every night while he continued to study. He couldn't engage in the conversation like he wanted to but it was better than nothing.
Taehyun understood. He was busy himself since it was his last couple months of high school. Soobin took him on a lot of college tours around the state on the weekends.
Beomgyu used the opportunity to pick up extra shifts for their wedding. Even though it was going to be a small wedding, they still wanted it to be lavish. Beomgyu was mostly thrilled he didn't have to change his last name. Taehyun made a joke about Yeonjun having it too which got him chased around the house.
One night, Hyuka and Yeonjun established they were going to take online courses with Stanford once they moved. Neither wanted to switch universities in the middle of their college careers. Knowing this now, Taehyun opted to take online classes as well. He ended up choosing the university of Minnesota. It was a good school. He could've went to a more prestigious one but he didn't want his boyfriend paying a high tuition if he didn't have to.
The Choi and Huening parents visited the property Yeonjun bought. None of the Minnesotans knew. Beomgyu was checking the traps and recognized them there. When asked why Yeonjun would buy the property, he simply said "Kai and Yeonjun planned on living here so they could be next to us." The parents were not happy but they accepted it. Yeonjun's mom opted to upgrade the cabin to something her son deserved.
Beomgyu ran home to warn the other two, a construction crew would be in the other property for a while until the old neighbor's cabin was done. All three of them told the dragons. Kai and Sara worked to conceal Stella the two months the crew was there. Every time the baby wandered to that side of the forest, Sara or Kai would nudge her away. Their hunting trips tended to wander into Wisconsin to keep her away longer.
Prom was coming up. Taehyun was set to go with his friends. He was super depressed his boyfriend wasn't able to go with him. Beomgyu took him to the tailors to find him a suit.
In the dressing room, Taehyun video chatted his boyfriend for suit opinions. He ended up picking an all black suit with a royal purple tie and a royal purple pocket square. Hyuka told him he looked really hot.
Before they hung up, the Californians played the full version of "Lonely Boy" for him. Like always, Taehyun was so proud of his boyfriend for his musical genius. "It's so good you guys! I bet it will go viral like your first one if you release it!"
That wasn't a bad idea. They released it to see what would happen. It did go viral for a few weeks. Yeonjun's rap especially was a hit. Their parents hired lawyers so they could get the rights to the two songs they produced. Their kids weren't sure it would do anything significant but the parents insisted it was to protect them. It was pretty cool to say they owned two songs.
Graduation was coming up for Taehyun. He received his cap and gown in the mail. He couldn't wait to walk. Soobin cried seeing it. His little brother was growing up too quickly. Hyuka and Yeonjun sent over gifts to be opened after the ceremony.
Taehyun had the option to decorate his cap. He chose to paint it like his saddle. It was split into four sections. The top left corner had his class number and his initials. The top right had a panel of fire. Bottom left had the sea and bottom right depicted the forest they lived in. It was an art piece that only made sense to people who knew the meaning of 'Kai'.
Beomgyu carefully glazed it for him so it wouldn't get ruined.
Hyuka wanted to watch the live stream but realized he literally wouldn't have time. He had six finals to prepare for. Yeonjun's frustration was at an all time high. They both had moments of hating each other until they needed the other person to help with studying. Arguing became common. Falling asleep together became even more common.
Graduation day came. Taehyun sat in his cap and gown, waiting for them to call his name for his diploma. Soobin and Beomgyu looked so proud in the bleachers. The gifts from the Californians were in their hands, waiting to be given.
When Taehyun's name was called, the couple stood up and screamed. Beomgyu was easily the loudest person there. Taehyun's face was red from the embarassment. The smile on his adorable face was all pride though.
After the ceremony was over, he ran into the couple's arms. They told him how proud of him they were then took a lot of photos. Beomgyu made him do at least 5 different poses. Soobin stood there awkwardly with the gifts in his arms. This was lasting longer than he thought it would.
Finally, the photo session was over. Taehyun opened Yeonjun's gift first. It was another $1,000 in cash. The note said "go crazy! Happy graduation!"
Hyuka's gift was next. It was wrapped in black with a royal purple ribbon bow on top. It was already perfect and he hadn't even opened it yet. Inside contained every BTS album released, all of them signed. At the very bottom was a signed photo of Jungkook with the cologne he endorsed. Taehyun gasped "oh my god..."
He loved his boyfriend even more if that was possible.
Hyuka texted him a "congratulations" and mentioned his semester would be done next week so they would be able to talk more. Taehyun couldn't wait to have an actual engaging conversation with him again.
Soobin of course made him a special steak dinner. Dessert was ice cream and a brownie. They talked about what they wanted to do over the summer before the Californians moved. The general consensus was to work a lot so the other two would quit buying them things. They talked about the wedding plans. Beomgyu wanted it to be in the fall so they were going to get married in the fall.
Taehyun got excited. "I can't believe you guys are getting married! Has it hit you yet?"
Soobin "no actually. I'm so excited though!"
Beomgyu adorably said "we will be the Chois baby! Me and you."
Taehyun watched the two kiss. It made him miss Hyuka more. He wondered if Hyuka would keep his last name if they got married. Kai Kamal Kang. His eyes popped open wide. That would be a terrible name. His initials would be a hate group. He then thought of Taehyun Huening. That actually didn't sound bad to him. He whispered it softly enough to where the couple couldn't hear him. "Taehyun Huening". That had a nice ring to it.
