2 days after Soobin and Beomgyu left, school started for the new yorkers.

People seemed to already know who Yeonjun was because of how much Hyuka talked about him during the school year. People came to him, wanted to be his friend because of his association to Hyuka. His looks and charm is what made them stay.

Hyuka met up with his band, 30 minutes before school started and talked about their summers. They shared photos and stories. Seungmin went to Thailand for a month. Jake's family did a 3 week roadtrip along the east coast while Vernon's family went to the UK for 5 weeks.

Random people came up to Hyuka, talking about the photo he posted to his instagram with Charlie Puth. Others asked him how he felt about leaving which reminded his band that he was actually leaving.

Jake demanded he open his calendar on his phone and started picking dates for them to hang out individually and as a group. His schedule for the next month became packed between his friends and the stuff his parents already arranged.

When the bell rung, he told his band to save him a seat at lunch since he got moved up a grade. He made a couple of friends in each of his classes when he wasnt busy texting people, including Taehyun.

Taehyun texted Hyuka while he was sorting his school supplies. His classes didnt start until next week. He asked for advice on how to make friends and was told "be yourself." Tae told him that was cheesy and useless.

Hyuka texted back "Im serious! Anyone who isnt okay with who you are can fuck right off."

"Thank you Hyuka. Im glad you like who I am."

"Of course! I gtg, teacher is mad I keep texting. Bye! 😜"

A week later, school started for the minnesotans. Taehyun was lucky to get more than 5 texts from Hyuka every day. He didnt believe someone his age could be that busy. The voice in his head told him that he was getting ignored. Beomgyu assured him he really was that busy. "Seriously, I remember how insane his schedule was every time he was here. See why I was worried we would stop talking now? Its going to be worse when he moves countries. You need to get used to it."

Taehyun agreed. He didnt want to get used to it but it's not like he really had a choice. That little voice in his head would always be there though. If he could afford a therapist, he would definitely go.

Just like last year, on the first day people tried to talk to him but he struggled to keep a conversation going. It was worse than last year. Everyone was a year or two older than him. It felt so awkward. Why did conversation come so easily to Hyuka but not to him?

One guy named Zachary, took pity on him and made an effort to befriend him. Taehyun was surprised. The guy was popular, star running back of the football team. At least that's what he remembered from last year. Maybe that's why he was popular, he wanted everyone to be his friend.

They talked for a bit while going over some notes and Taehyun felt himself slowly start to open up. He got invited to lunch with Zach which he gladly accepted.

At the end of the day, Taehyun told the couple about his new friend. They asked who it was and got concerned when Taehyun told them. The younger rushed out the door, to go to work, before either could say anything.

Hyuka begged his mom to cancel their meeting at the embassy. He insisted he didnt have to be there but that was a losing battle. The dentist was next and finally a late night appointment with the doctor for his check up.

Yeonjun was also dragged to the embassy so they could make sure his papers were in order for the move soon. Next for him was the paperwork for his international drivers license and a meeting with the diplomats from the Dominican Republic.

The night was going to be long and painful for everyone.

Hyuka did his homework every time he got into the car. None of it was hard, he was just annoyed that it was only a week into school and his english teacher already assigned him an essay. He was thankful it was on a book he was assigned in Minnesota, meaning he could get his essay out a lot quicker.

Yeonjun and him texted each other constantly whenever they could, just like before. Neither could wait until they moved. When they moved, it would be online classes at their own pace. They could breeze through a weeks worth of lessons in 3 days and have that much more flexibility in their schedules.

Hyuka was texted a photo of the girl Yeonjun had a date with next week. He was more surprised it was a girl but it was none of his business.

The plan was to take her to a club and go dancing. If she couldnt dance, there wouldnt be a second date. Yeonjun explained she wasnt interesting enough to get by on her personality. He was just looking for a date to the homecoming dance.

Hyuka learned Yuna and Jake broke up over the summer when she asked him to the dance again. He said yes considering they did have a lot of fun last time. Jake was okay with it because he had a crush on Wonyoung. They gave each other the okay to go with their exes. It was going to be a little awkward but Hyuka didnt care. Him moving made him unafraid to do questionable things.

Taehyun arrived back home to see the couple waiting for him at the dining room table. The air in the room seemed serious. "Is everything okay?"

Soobin motioned for him to sit. "You should know something about Zach. I just dont want to see you get hurt."

Taehyun fiddled with an unwrapped granola bar on the table. "What is it?"

Beomgyu explained "he's not a good guy okay? He uses guys and then dumps them when he gets what he wants. He was my ex and I was dumb enough to fall for his shit."

"I'll be careful. We're just friends now."

Soobin pleaded "it's better to have a few real friends than fake ones. I know you'll be careful. We're just looking out for you."

"Thanks. I appreciate it." He left to do homework in his room. It didn't matter what Zach's intentions were either way. Hyuka was all he ever thought about. Tae glanced at his phone to see if he responded to what he texted a few hours ago. It finally went from "sent" to "read".

Hyuka sent a photo of his stack of passports on his bed, the most recent being the Dominican Republic one. The caption said "what I was doing after school."

Taehyun debated on calling him but it was 11pm on the east coast. He texted Hyuka "are you going to bed or do you have time to call?"

"I have to get to bed. My mom has us on some call with our online teachers in D.R before school. I really am sorry I can't text you more. Goodnight Taehyunnie ❤️"

He stared at the heart at the end of the message. Tae responded back "Good night Hyuka ❤️"
