Yeonjun told Hyuka everything when he got back from Vermont. It took the younger a second to realize what Taehyun meant by saying he would support him.
It was an amazing opportunity. A dream come true really. He would be getting college credits at 15 at his dream school and he would be going with his best friend. He was getting everything his younger self wanted yet it seemed so wrong without Taehyun.
He had to meet Taehyun but he also knew missing this opportunity would be a huge regret in his life. As much as it killed him, he had to say yes. Taehyun's support influenced that decision although Hyuka knew that his boyfriend really wasn't okay with it.
Maybe for his birthday he could fly Taehyun out. He would offer to pay for everything. Flight, hotel, food, didn't matter. Hell, his boyfriend could stay in the dorm with him if he wanted to. Yeonjun wouldn't mind.
There was a million things he had to do today. At the end of the night, he was going to call Taehyun no matter how tired he was.
First thing on the list was a video call with the head of Stanford. Yeonjun already told them yes so there was an appointment set up. Now Hyuka could let the admissions office know he would be joining over the summer too. The call was an hour long. It went over the classes they were going to take, where they were going to stay and the length of time they were going to be there. Hyuka's parents already signed the waiver forms and the check for room and board. Stanford was set.
Next on the list was a call with Yeonjun's parents. They haven't really heard from them since their visit to the Dominican Republic last year. The Chois let them know they saw the video of their concert. It went viral for a bit in the area. Dear Sputnik was also a local hit in the city for a short period. Yeonjun's parents also let them know they were going to retire with the Huenings in Minnesota. They said it was time to settle down now that their kids were graduating from high school.
After the call, it was about dinner time which meant getting fitted for dinner with the diplomat family from Australia. Hyuka used the opportunity to tell Wonyoung about Stanford after high school was over for him. She was really happy for him and proclaimed how missed he would be. It didnt fully hit Hyuka he was leaving until they hugged after the fitting was over. It felt like they were hugging goodbye.
Dinner with the Australians was... interesting. They had a daughter who was Yeonjun's age and they hit it off very well. Hyuka ended up being alone while the parents talked and his best friend flirted. He decided to go to the bathroom and just never come back. He was pretty sure he wasn't going to be missed anyways.
He left the plaza to take a walk down the street. He had run through the city enough times to know how to get home from anywhere. Or so he thought. Hyuka got on the bus and realized his stop was under maintaince so he had to get off at the next one. Now he was only sort of familiar on where he was.
His phone was dying. Google maps told him he was three miles from the house. He quickly memorized the route back and started to walk until he could find a taxi.
It began to get dark. Snow started to lightly fall. The sidewalks became slippery. "I fucking hate snow" Hyuka mumbled to himself. His suit jacket was warm but not warm enough to keep the wind away from his body. Yeonjun started calling him but it just made his phone die faster. His fingers were shivering trying to answer but he missed it. His parents began to call next and with struggle, he picked up. "Hi mom. Im okay. My phone is about to die. Can you call the driver and tell him Im-" the phone died. "Great."
Hyuka had 2.5 miles to get home. No cabs were in sight as the street lights illuminated. Instead of freezing his ass off on the walk home, he saw a Marshalls with a phone charging station. He plugged his phone in and walked around the store, waiting for it to charge.
