Happy birthday Tae

Taehyun woke up to the lights being turn on in his sleep. Suddenly he heard Soobin singing "Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday to Taehyunnie! Happy birthday to you!"

When his vision refocused, he saw Soobin holding a small chocolate cake with a candle in the middle. Beomgyu was looking embarassed behind him. "Im sorry. I told him to wait until you were awake. Happy birthday Taehyun."

"Thanks you guys! This is the first birthday cake Ive ever had!"

Soobin became sad and lowered his arms. The cake almost fell to the ground but he saved it just in time. Beomgyu lightly scolded him and said "we will leave you to get dressed. Come out when youre ready!"

"Wait but I dont have backup clothes!"

Soobin regained his dimpley smile and beamed with happiness. "We left you some of our old ones while you were sleeping. The dresser is full of it."

"Clothes and a cake. This is the best birthday ever!"

Beomgyu dragged Soobin out before he got sad again. Taehyun sorted through the clothes and was relieved to find underwear. He picked out a black and gray flannel button down, black sweatpants and a black beanie.

He then opened a door to find a small bathroom with just a sink, a toilet and a small mirror above with shelving behind it. Taehyun grabbed his toiletries and took the opportunity to lay everything he had out. He brushed his teeth and walked into the living area.

The cake was already cut up into slices on the small dining table. To the left by the door lay an old brown leather couch with a brown oval rug and a 48 inch TV on a small wooden table. The TV was playing updates on the storm. Temperatures were expected to drop more.

Behind the dining table was a small kitchen. It contained lots of wooden shelves hung on the walls, an antique electric oven and an electric stove top. A small silver microwave was on one side of the counter and a toaster on the other.

Taehyun was just happy he was living some place warm. The fireplace on the side of the living room always seemed to be lit.

He walked over to the table and ate this birthday cake. Hell of a breakfast if you asked him. "Its delicious Soobin!"

"Thank you! I promise I make more than sweets. I just like baking the most."

"Im just happy to be eating anything other than cereal Soobin."

Soobin started to pout. Beomgyu gave him a quick hug before sitting back into his chair. "Babe are you really going to do that every time? His childhood sucked. But we're going to make it better arent we? How many people can say they have a baby dragon!"

Soobin started doing a happy dance in his seat while eating his cake. Beomgyu turned to Taehyun. "The mother should be back this evening. It's much easier for her to find food now that all of the famers have abandoned their live stock. She's really beautiful. Her name is Saragosa or Sara for short."

Taehyun looked at Kai playing outside, hopping around in the snow. "I cant wait to meet her. How has no one found them though? I imagine the mother is big if the baby is the size of a cow."

Soobin explains "theyre only seen by people who they let see them. Otherwise, theyre just invisible. Theyre surprisingly good at not leaving tracks despite how large the adults gets. It also helps that there's so little of them left due to hunting. I believe the selective seeing thing was due to that in the first place. Evolution you could call it."

"So Kai really did choose me?"

"Yup! You two are bonded for life now. And by extension, we all are."

Taehyun couldnt contain his happiness. He found his real family. "Seriously the best birthday ever."
