~Aiden~

Ronbie walked into my office as I was looking through a file. But instead of seeing the words on the page, I kept seeing images of Breanna. I was craving to see her. The entire day... she'd been gone. And it was like my own hell without her walking around here.

“It's the weekend, Aiden,” Ronbie told me, taking my coat off the rack near the door and tossing it at me.

My thoughts shaken, I looked up from the coat that was on my lap.

“So?”

“So we have to go out. This trip has made you boring,” he teased.

I chuckled, signing the last page of the file before closing it. I put it on my desk and got up.

“Really?” I asked. “I'm boring?”

“Really.”

Was that why I wasn't catching Breanna's attention? Did she find me boring? Was Steven Ryker the adventurous type? Was her ex adventurous? Did she like adventure?

Well, he is an actor so...

I shook my head, forcing my thoughts away.

“I think I'll pass.”

He gave me a look.

“Aren't you going to the party at least?”

“No. I'll just get some more work done and start drafting the papers for the partnership with Forbes.”

Ronbie groaned.

“Must it always be work, work, work?”

“Must you always ask that when you know the answer?”

He sighed. I glanced at the time on my watch.

“Megan's going...” he began, “... meaning Breanna will be there too.”

Her name made me forget what I was checking the time for. I looked at Ronbie who was smiling at me and I chuckled.

“Again with the Megan?” I asked.

“Don't change the subject, Aiden. You're not that good anymore.”

“And what's the current subject?”

“Breanna” he smiled. “You haven't seen her all day. Tell me you're not dying to sneak a peek at her at the party.”

I chuckled.

“You're delusional.”

“You're boring.”

“Go peek at Megan” I teased.

He chuckled. Herve walked in, smiling in his funny-looking tux.

“Who's ready for a night out?”

“Not him” Ronbie accused, gesturing to me with his head. “I'm trying to get him to come with me to the party Zed Meyers is throwing but he doesn't want to.”

Herve made a face.

“Who wants to be seen partying with their employees?” he scoffed.

I looked at him as Ronbie looked at me.

“Aiden, c'mon. Let's go” he pleaded.

“No Martin. I have work to do.”

He groaned.

“I mean c'mon, Aiden!” he whined. “When was the last time we went out to do our kind of stuff? These business trips used to be so much fun. It's been forever, Aiden. Admit it,” Ronbie said.
