I let out an aggravated Lion's roar as I stretch out on the bed. Everything is blurry, out of focus, and too bright since I just woke up. The bed sinks as I fall out. I jump up, as if my feet have springs attached to them.

On top of Ty's pillow is a slip of paper. I pick it up, examining it carefully.

Going to work. Back at six.

Ty is at work. That means that I can have a girl's day out and tell them about the baby.

I go and pick up the phone, dialing in Olivia's number. Last I heard, she was unemployed and had been so depressed that she was hooking up with people after a few drinks at the bar every night.

She's been through quite a few one night stands, but thank goodness she hasn't actually had any "permanent" consequences like a Sexually Transmitted Disease or a baby. Protection is the safest way to go.

She picks up on the fourth ring. "Maddie! What's up?" She says happily into the phone.

"Why are you so happy?" I ask. This is weird. She's actually never really been this happy, at least as long as I've known her... Which is her whole life.

"Oh I have news. I have a boyfriend and a job!" She practically screams into the phone. "Oh that's great! Are you off today?" I ask.

"Yeah. Want to hang?" She says casually. My sister sense says that she's lying and had plans with her "boyfriend" but I'm going to let it slide considering she ignored all the times I wanted to hang out with Ty.

"Yes! I have news too, but it will have to wait until we get to the restaurant I'm taking us to." I say.

"It must be good since I can practically see the smile on your face." Her sarcasm floats from her mouth, through the phone, and into my ear. I mentally roll my eyes. "Okay, well, bye!" I say.

"Okay! I'll call the other girls for you. I know that you did all the work for our last day out, so I'll do the work this time." Says Olivia. "Thanks!" I hang up the phone.

I go to my closet across the bedroom, and pull out my tight black sweater, and my maroon leggings. I also reach up on my top shelf and pull out a shoe box.

Abby got me these really fancy combat boots for my birthday, so I'm going to wear them.

I get dressed, and walk to the bathroom. I open up a drawer, and see my collection of various tubes and cups of makeup.

Ariana used to work at a boutique, and she would give me free makeup all the time. When her boss found out, she was fired. He never asked for the makeup back, though.

I apply my concealer, minimal bronzer, blush, and some mascara. I then line my eyes with an eyeliner.

I coat my lips with a moisturizing lip gloss, and brush my hair. My ombré is fading; I need to get it re-done. Ty says that it's sexy, and he wants me to keep it. I like it too, and I like feeling "sexy."

I walk downstairs, to the kitchen, and look up the number for the Dauntless Burger Company, which is located in the directory.

Directories are places in every apartment before you move in. It's part of the new rules that my parents put in when they became leaders.
