"No!" Jeanine says, "No! It can't be possible! He's the strongest Divergent in the city. He can't be dead!" I place my tablet down on the table and walk over to the lab door. It opens with a small release of steam, and I step over to Tyler's body. I crouch down beside him. "Bring him back!" Jeanine shouts from the forum, "Bring him back!"

I look at Tyler's body for a second, nearly grimacing as I do so. His face is covered in blood, mainly near his nose and his ear. His lips are parted slightly, his eyes closed lightly.

"Ty." I say softly. I look down at his body. His face is abnormally pale, and I don't see his chest moving. I close my eyes. What have I done? What have I caused? My heart leaps when I open my eyes and see his chest rise the slightest bit when I speak. "Blink if you're still alive." I whisper, and he barely blinks.

Jeanine retracts the cords from his body, and he goes limp. I pick him up, carrying him bridal style, the only way I can, out of the lab. I ignore Jeanine speaking to me and carry Ty back to his cell.

He groans a small bit as I nudge the door of his cell to open the door. He lets out a sigh as I place him on his bed. I lay him down so that his hands are folded over his stomach.

I know that I've always been after Ty and that I've always wanted him dead, but now that it almost happened, I realize that I couldn't live with myself if I let myself kill him, or if I helped someone else kill him.

Uncle Zeke would kill me.

Maddie would kill me.

I walk over to a bathroom and get a washcloth that's wet with warm water. I return to Tyler's cell and see that he hasn't moved. I then dab his face with the washcloth to get the blood off of it.

He cringes when I wipe his face near his ear. "It hurts so much." He mumbles in a whispering tone, barely moving his mouth.

He soon starts to shake, and I look at his body carefully. It's almost as if he's still reacting to the wires, to the simulation. It's like bolts of electricity are being sent through his body. He opens his eyes a small bit, and then they roll back into his head. "Light... Headed." He whispers, and I grab his face, causing him to cringe.

"No, Ty, no. You have to stay awake. I don't know if you'll wake back up if you fall asleep!" I say to him in an urgent tone. His eyes widen, and I help him try to sit up.

I fall down, landing in a pool of blood. It's Maddie's blood, it's Dylan's blood, and it's Hannah's too. I feel my eyes roll back into my head, and then everything goes black. I hit the ground, and I drift off.

It's silent for a while. I can't wipe the memory of falling into the pool of blood from my mind. I just want to cry, I just want to go back home, I just want to see Maddie and Hannah and Dylan, but I have no tears left. I have no plans left.

I hear talking, and then someone walks towards me. The person crouches down next to me. "Ty." The voice says. I was kind of hoping that somehow it would be Maddie, but it's Jordan. Everything inside of me screams to jump up and attack him, but I can't. I don't even think that I can move my arms or my legs. Everything inside of me aches, it burns. "Blink if you're still alive." He whispers. I move my eyes the slightest bit, and he releases a breath.
