Running Out- Matoma
Uriah takes a step into my office. "Morning, Maddie!" He cheers as he stalks over to my desk, sitting down in one of the large, beanbag like chairs that sit in front of my desk.
"Morning, Uri." I say as I type a few things into the computer. I then lean back in my office chair, stuffing my hands in the pocket of Ty's hoodie that I'm wearing. "So what brings you to the realm of my office?" I smile as he fiddles with his phone, before dropping it.
He groans as he picks it up, then smiles. "It didn't crack!" He says while stuffing it into his pocket.
"Oh, I think that we should find someone to be the faction ambassador; Erudite is reimplementing that position into the core system." I nod as he speaks, then shrug.
"Whoever you want to take the position, that person will be fine with me." I gaze off out of the wall sized window and look out at the Erudite compound. Jordan is there, concocting a death sentence for my family. I feel a bitter taste fill my mouth, like bile.
"So, is Jordan officially Erudite Elite?" I turn back to face Uriah. He sighs, a bewildered look crossing his face.
"Erm, yeah. Pretty much. Jeanine allowed him to switch, something about how he's a useful resource or something like that. I'm really, really, really disappointed in him." He shakes his head.
I nod. "I just hope that Hannah and Dylan are okay. I've reached the point where I'm starting to not even care if Ty and I are okay; our legacy lives on in them; they have to be okay. I'd like for Ty and I to be okay, but part of me says that that might not happen." I shake my head, and Uriah sucks in a breath.
"You will all be fine, Maddie. There are quite a few people that Jeanine and Jordan will have to get through if they want to get to you two and your kids." He speaks.
"Zeke, Shauna, Four, and Tris definitely aren't going to let that happen, and I'm not either. I don't approve of Jordan's actions. It's ludicrous." His eyes pierce into mine as I purse my lips silently, "But we have to keep our heads." He closes.
I nod and smile at him. "Thanks Uriah. Now, as far as Ambassador goes, I really don't care, maybe Abby, Ashton, Ariana, Hunter, or maybe Ty, but he'd be part time unless he completely quit his other job." I shrug. He nods.
"An insider is definitely who we need. We need someone close to us who's not going to betray us." I nod.
"I'll approach Abby, Ariana, and Ty. If Ty can't, then maybe Hunter. I'd kind of like another guy up here." He shrugs, and I nod again, turning back to my computer. I type in a few codes and a certain screen pops up.
Uriah then just sits in front of my desk, his eyes scanning over the room, and then eventually falling on a picture frame collage I have that holds pictures of Ty, Hannah, Dylan and I, all in different groups together.
I hear a faint knock on the door, and Uriah turns, his eyebrows furrowed. "Come in?" He states, but it slips past his lips in question form. The door opens up, and in steps Ty.
He steps in without Hannah or Dylan, so I'm left to question why he's here. His hands spasm at his sides ever so often as he stands against the door, shutting it. He releases a breath, then walks over to me.
