Chapter 73: It's all Us.

I walk the hallways of the compound, making my way to the pit, Ty by my side, our hands intertwined.

I look up at him. I still can't believe that he's twenty two. It amazes me and blows my mind; we've come so far in so little time.

"Happy birthday, Ty." I say, leaning into him. He wraps his arm around my body, planting a kiss to my forehead.

"Thanks, Love." He says softly as we arrive in the pit chamber.

All of our friends and family are standing on the outlook ledge, ahead of us, waiting for us to arrive. We're in a dark tunnel at the moment, so we can't see them, only the light of the sky roof.

I stop us as we approach the outlook chamber of the pit, and tap my foot three times.

We step ahead again, and I hear whispers. I step loudly as we step out into a ring of light.

"Surprise!" I hear people shout as balloons and streamers and confetti fly into the air. Ty's grip on my hand tightens as he turns to me, beaming.

My vision locks on his bright, gleaming white smile and I feel myself moving closer to him.

I feel our lips connect, and I relax. Ty slings his arm around my neck as he kisses me, our lips moving together, working as one.

I feel him sigh against my lips as people cheer and holler at us, clapping and whistling. He pulls away slowly, his hand lingering on my jaw, before fully pulling away.

He still keeps his arm slung around my neck- placid. I see my mother and father standing before us, as well as Zeke and Shauna. They smile at us, walking in our direction.

My mother engulfs Ty in a hug. She pulls away quickly though, smiling up at him. "Happy, twenty two, Ty!" She practically screams over the loud music.

"Thank you!" Ty shouts back. My father nods at Ty, and Ty nods back. My mother basically sinks back into my father's arms as Shauna and Zeke approach.

Shauna smiles at Ty, the tears reaching the brims of her eyelids. "You've done well, Tyler. Very well." She says. "Happy Birthday." Ty nods. "Thanks, mom." He says softly.

Zeke slaps Ty's shoulder roughly. "Happy birthday, son!" Ty slaps Zeke's shoulder in response. "Thank you!" He shouts. Zeke nods, and they walk away.

"Well..." Ashton says quietly. "I guess it's time for...Cake and Dancing!" He pumps his fists in the air as she shouts at the Dauntless below him, who scream and cheer.

"Leave it to Ashton to get the party started." Abby giggles from beside me. I nod, laughing as well, looking down at the dark clothing clad people below us.

They pump their fists and cheer as Ashton shouts at the DJ, telling him that the already blaring, eardrum shattering music isn't loud enough.

Ty walks up to me and slings his arm around me once again. His face shadows as a cloud passes over the sun, making the pit seem darker through the sky roof.

His face looks aged in this pale darkness; his features chiseled and more refined.

But his eyes still capture me and don't dare to let me go. It's one of those frozen time moments- no one else is here, it's just us.
