Chapter 88: Glowing

Maddie

I stand in line in the Dining Hall, Ty behind me and Hannah in my arms. We both just got off work, and decided to meet up here after I picked up Hannah from Olivia's. She just recently moved into a new apartment, near the Dining Hall.

Hannah is asleep, something I am surprised by, considering the fact that the Dining Hall is so loud. I stare into the distance until something peculiar appears in my line of vision. Hunter runs through the aisles, grinning devilishly as he barrels toward a stack of trays, picking one up and slamming it down on the rails, or the line, directly behind Ty.

"It's Ty!" He shouts, "If you're here than Maddie definitely isn't far!" I hear a step behind me, and then turn just as Hunter shouts, "Boo!" at me.

Ty smiles until Hannah shifts uncomfortably. Luckily she doesn't wake, though. I pat her back soothingly, rubbing circles on it afterwards as I look up at Hunter. "Hey, sis." He says softly as he engulfs me in a hug.

I wrap my free arm around him, "Hey, bro." I reply.

He pulls away and goes to his spot in line, talking to Ty as we soon surge forward in the line.

Ty carries both my tray and his as we walk through the aisles since I'm holding Hannah. She's now awake, smiling and giggling as I kiss her tiny face. Hunter drags behind us, his tray in front of him.

There's an empty table near the doors of the Dining Hall- we sit there.

I watch Hannah bounce in the high chair at the table's end, holding a bottle to her mouth as I devour my hamburger, which is probably my number one pregnancy craving so far.

Now, all of our friends sit with us, including Ariana, Abby, Ashton, Ashley, Amanda, Olivia, and her boyfriend, Travis. Travis and Ty seem to get along well, being the same age and all.

Travis has shaggy blonde hair, not long, but shaggy, brown eyes, and tan skin. I can vaguely see the ring of flames tattoo that wraps around his bicep.

He's been dating Olivia for four months now, since she started working at the Dauntless Secret store in the Pit.

Ariana smiles at me from across the table, wiggling her eyebrows at me when Ty wraps his arm around me.

I only smile, until Hunter leans forward and looks at me closely. "Maddie, something's different about you...You're... Glowing..." His voice drifts off, and Ariana is left staring at me, mouth agape.

Abby and Ashton are the only two that know anything about the baby. You can hardly tell, if even, that I'm pregnant- I only have the tiniest bump that looks like fat from afar and up close.

Abby smiles at me as she sinks into Ashton, who raises an eyebrow as he holds his hamburger in front of his mouth.

I turn to look at Ty, who stares up at the ceiling, toward some of the offices that belong to the initiate trainers and other workers.

His eyes glitter and gleam in the pale light that floats out of the lanterns, and it's all I can do to not attack him with kisses at this very moment.
