I wake up to the delightful scent of freshly brewed coffee. I throw the covers off of my body and race downstairs. Ty stands at the counter, pulling down a mug.

I walk to the counter as well, and stand beside him. "Good morning." I say happily. One of my wishes came true last night- Ty and I came back home to Dauntless.

"Good morning." He says as he kisses my forehead. I tap my fingers against my mug, pouring the black coffee in it once Ty moves to put some sugar cubes in his.

I do as well, and we sit down on the couch together. "Today's the day." Ty says as he turns on the television to see the daily news broadcast from Erudite.

At first I don't know what he's talking about, but then I realize that he is referring to the truth serum.

We're also going to turn in the tape recorder- that way the others will have to go under the truth serum influence as well.

"Yes, it is. I just want her back, though. She's fifty-fifty now." I say, looking at Ty. He stretches an arm out on the back of the couch to wrap around my body.

"She'll recover, Maddie. I know she will." He looks at me, furrowing his eyebrows. "You need to stop thinking about that before you get sick over it," he finishes.

I nuzzle my head in his shoulder, indulging in his scent. "Okay." I whisper, and take another sip of my coffee.

"Thank you for your Candor." Everyone in the large, circular auditorium cheers as Camilla walks off the stage, her face beet red.

She admitted to making a vial of Arsenic Solution and preparing it in a saline bag. She also admitted to sending it to Leah Shwartz, the nurse that was in charge of taking care of my mother.

We turned in the tape recorder as soon as we arrived. They weren't impressed that we lied, but they're Candor.

They were impressed though, that we were able to get all of that information. It wasn't very hard, Leah just let all of the information slip out.

She thought we were on her side.

Zeke, Christina, my father, Hunter, Olivia, Alex, and Ty and I sit in a row of black chairs at the front of the auditorium, near the pit, where the attackers undergo the truth serum test.

The entire Candor faction surrounds us, minus Jack Kang, who is giving the truth serum.

My arm rests on the arm rest, as I lean forward, watching the Candor leader administer the test. He prepares a needle, and injects it into Leah's vein. Ty places a warm hand over my cold one.

"It'll be okay." He whispers, and I put those words close to my heart as Jack Kang reminds Leah that the serum will take effect in exactly one minute.

"Name?" Jack Kang asks. My father shifts uncomfortably in his chair and he's not even on trial.

Leah cuts her eyes at him. "Leah." He rolls his eyes. "Full name." She groans. "Leah Shwartz."

"Did you or did you not plan the altercation in question, targeting to kill Beatrice Prior Eaton?" Kang asks.
