Growing Up- Macklemore & Ryan Lewis

I hear an ear shattering cry as I open my eyes, waking up. The bed feels cold as I sit up- Ty isn't here. I stand up, pulling my black shorts away from my skin so that they aren't tight on me.

I run a hand trough my tangled hair, and open up the bedroom door. I walk towards Hannah's room, meeting Ty halfway there.

"Good morning." He says quietly as he opens the door for me. I smile up at him.

"Good morning." I nod as I step over to Hannah's crib, leaning over to look at her. She stops crying when I look down at her, her face seemingly becoming mesmerized by me.

I turn back to Ty and smirk. He rolls his eyes while smiling. He steps up to be right beside me, and places an arm over my shoulder. "She's one year old, Maddie." He smiles and I kiss his cheek.

"I know. It's gone by all too fast." I sigh, and pick Hannah up. "Hey baby girl!" I blow raspberries onto her face and she giggles. "Bah." She waves her arms.

"You're one today! It's your birthday!" I smile at Ty's words. I hold Hannah on my hip, and Ty caresses her cheek.

"Ber-day!" She claps her hands and giggles, smiling, putting her five white teeth on show.

"That's right, Hannah bear!" Ty exclaims, and bends down to kiss her cheek. She gurgles, making me grin cheekily. Ty slings his arm over my shoulder, which cages Hannah in between the two of us, causing her to giggle. I tickle her stomach, and she giggles even more.

"Ty? Is she okay?" I hear a voice- it sounds like my mother. I snap my neck in Ty's direction, and he sighs.

"Your mother insisted on getting here bright and early to decorate for Hannah's party, and-" he rambles as I turn, hearing a door squeak.

My mother steps in the room, beaming. "Hey, honey!" She rushes over to me and hugs me from behind.

"Hey mom." I say, and Hannah screams joyfully. "Gah-mah!" She says loudly, and Ty kisses her cheek. My mother raises her eyebrows at me, and I don't think anything of it until she wiggles them, and I glare at her.

"Hannah!" My mother scoops Hannah in her arms and attacks her cheeks with kisses. Ty stands beside me, and I lean my head on his shoulder.

My mother soon sits down with Hannah, playing with her. Hannah claps in glee and happiness as my mother bangs on her play piano and kisses her and hugs her.

"Bang! Bang!" Hannah buzzes the last bang as she repeatedly slaps her tiny hand down on the brightly colored keys.

She then races over to a little plastic cube that she has, with little holes cut out in it. Those holes are where circle, triangle, rectangle, and diamond shaped pegs are put in.

My mother lifts the lid of the cube and dumps out the shapes, and Hannah whines. "Sh, here." My mother says, handing Hannah the little rectangular peg. Hannah nibbles on it, and my mother laughs.

"No, Hannah. This." She says, and places it over the rectangle hole.

Hannah cries as she pulls it away from the rectangle's hole, and moves it to the circular hole. She repeatedly beats it against the circle hole, becoming fussy when it doesn't fit.
