Jai Mei felt a sense of accomplishment as she showed the soaps she had made to Hao Zhang and the rest of her husbands.
"Smell them, and pick one, It's made from the boar we hunted a few days ago," she said with a smile.
Hao Zhang picked the Eucalyptus Fresh silently, giving her a small nod of thanks. Jai Mei knew that he was always on edge, but she hoped that her soap could bring him some comfort.
Liu Feng watched from the side, his eyes on the soap. "How did you make it?" he asked Jai Mei, his curiosity piqued as he picked the Chamomile Smooth.
Jai Mei explained to Liu Feng about the animal fat and lye, and how they had to be mixed together and left to cure. Liu Feng listened intently, soaking up the knowledge.
Chun Wei didn't say much, but he picked the Lavender Dream but Jai Mei could see that he was observing everything. She wondered if he was interested in learning how to make soap, or if he was simply watching out of curiosity.
Shu Wang was the only one who expressed excitement over the soap as he picked the Honey Rose "Can I help you make more?" he asked eagerly, his eyes bright.
Jai Mei smiled at Shu Wang's enthusiasm, feeling a sense of warmth in her heart. "Of course, I'd be happy to teach you," she said, placing her hand on his arm. "I hope you all like them" They all nodded taking the soaps.
Jai Mei watched as her husbands prepared for the day's work, each taking on their respective duties. Shu Wang and Chun Wei were tending to the crops and animals, while Hao Zhang was fixing the roof with the builders and Liu Feng was clearing debris.
As Jai Mei was feeding and doting on Xiao Hei and her other babies, she heard a familiar voice. "Jai Yuna, Jai Yuna!" Chun Wei came running towards her, a big smile on his face.
Jai Mei was taken aback never seeing Chun Wei smile in such a way.
"Chun Wei, what's going on?" Jai Mei asked.
"The rabbit gave birth!" Chun Wei exclaimed. "There are fourteen little ones, and the chicken laid more eggs! We'll have plenty of produce to sell and eat!"
Jai Mei couldn't help but feel happy at the news. She knew how hard her husbands worked to provide for their family, and it was good to see their efforts paying off.
"That's great news, leaves some eggs to hatch Chun Wei," Jai Mei said with a smile. "Thank you for letting me know."
She remembered her bamboo idea, and she needed her husbands' help to make it happen. "I actually have an idea for us to make the farming not so hard."
Jai Mei gathered her husbands together and told them about her plan to collect bamboo. "We need bamboo for a project I have in mind," she said. "I was thinking we could all go to the bamboo forest and collect some today before I head to Doctor Liang Bo's place for my lessons."
Hao Zhang nodded in agreement. "We can use more bamboo for repairs around the farm," he said. "And it's always good to have extra for future projects."
Liu Feng added, "Plus, it'll be a good way to get some fresh air.
Chun Wei didn't say much, but he seemed to be on board with the plan.
Shu Wang, smiled. "I love the bamboo forest. It's so peaceful.
Jai Mei smiled at her husbands. "Alright, then it's settled. Let's go gather some bamboo before I head to my lessons," she said.
They all headed out to the bamboo forest, armed with machetes and baskets.
As they walked through the forest, Jai Mei pointed out various types of bamboo that they could use for her invention.
"We need the straightest and strongest bamboo we can find," she explained. "It needs to be able to withstand the weight of water and be sturdy enough."
