Jai Mei woke up to the smell of breakfast cooking in the kitchen. She stretched her arms and yawned before getting up from the bed. Her hand, arm, and shoulder were still sore, and she winced at the pain.

She got dressed and headed to the kitchen where her best friend and her two husbands were already cooking breakfast. They greeted her with warm smiles and welcomed her to sit down and eat with them.

After breakfast, Jai Mei thanked them and told them that she would be back later on that day. She needed to check on the progress of their house being built, tend to the farm, take care of her dog Xiao Hei and her four puppies, and then have her lessons with her mentor, Doctor Liang Bo.

Jai Mei headed home didn't say much of anything just nodded at her husbands to acknowledge them, did her duties and left, feeling uncomfortable and sad about the whole situation.

Jai Mei entered the small clinic where her mentor, Doctor Liang Bo, worked. He looked up from his desk and greeted her warmly.

"Good afternoon, Jai Yuna. How are you feeling today?"

"I'm doing alright, thank you. Just a little sore," Jai Mei replied as she held up her bandaged hand.

Doctor Liang Bo approached Jai Mei and examined her hand. "What happened to your hand, Jai Yuna?" he asked.

"I had a little accident while working on the new house. A rock slab fell on my hand," Jai Mei explained, looking down and trying to avoid eye contact.

Doctor Liang Bo could sense that something was wrong and that Jai Mei was hiding the truth. He put his hands on the side of her head and his thumbs under her chin, forcing her to look at him. "Tell me the truth, Yuna," he said firmly.

Jai Mei looked into Doctor Liang Bo's dark gray eyes and felt tears welling up in her own. She tried to look away, but he held her chin firmly. "Tell me what happened," he repeated softly.

"I don't have the right to complain," Jai Mei stuttered, "I-I messed up, and it's my fault. It's true, I-I'm a terrible person, and I hurt them." Her voice cracked as she started crying even more. "I was trying to protect him.

The rock slab fell off the roof, and I pushed Chun Wei out of the way. But he thought I was trying to hurt him, and I-I-I-I tried to explain what happened, but Hao Zhang and my other husbands didn't believe me.

They accused me of lying, just using them, and said that I would never change, and the villagers agreed. What can I say to that?" feeling like her breath was caught in her chest.

Doctor Liang Bo's expression softens as he listens to her explanation. "I see. You were being selfless and trying to protect your loved one. You shouldn't feel guilty about that.

She continued to speak, her words coming out in a flurry of emotion. "I've been trying so hard to change, and I really mean it, but no one believes me. And what can I say? It's true, I-I did all those terrible things, and I can't take them back." Her voice trembled as she spoke, and tears streamed down her face.

She took a deep breath and continued, "But I'm trying, I really am... and something always comes up, and I feel like I have no right to complain, so I just keep it to myself..." She let out a sob, unable to finish her sentence.

Doctor Liang Bo didn't hesitate and immediately picked her up in his arms, cradling her like a child. He carried her to the family side of his house, heading towards his den. Once they were seated, he held her in his lap, rocking her gently while rubbing her head and cleaning her face.

"Yuna, I believe you, and I see you. I can't say that I didn't feel the same before, but I am completely convinced now. I see the change in you, and soon everyone else will too."
