Her attitude towards her best friend suprised me to say the least, but I'd ask about that later. Right now I needed to deal with the fact she thought I was breaking whatever this was off. Which was the furtherest thing from the fucking truth.

Tank offered Alexis her phone, and she hesitated slightly before reaching out and grabbing it from him

Thank you, she said softly giving Tank a small shy smile. The man's eyes lit up like Christmas and I wanted to punch the fucker.

No problem Alexis! It's nice to properly meet you finally, Tank continued.
And I'm real sorry that happened to your face. Still a wee stunner though, if you don't mind me saying. If this fucker ever mucks ya round, you come see me darling. I'll take good care of ya.

Flashing me a triumphant grin, knowing exactly what he was doing, he turned to leave.

Bye Alexis, later Reaper he called out over his shoulder with one last shit stirring grin. I'd have to teach the asshole a lesson later.

Grabbing her jacket from the floor, I watched as Alexis turned to leave out the open door behind Tank, but I grabbed her arm gently, but firm enough to stop her in her tracks.

Alexis stop. Its not what your thinking babe. Not even close.

Pulling her back into my room and shutting the door in one swift motion, I led her to the bed and sat down, pulling her down next to me.

Whatever your thinking, your wrong. I don't want you to go Lex. In fact, you really can't go. That's kinda part of what we need to talk about.

I saw the curiosity spark in her eyes, so I continued while I had the chance.

Alexis, this is a motorcycle gang. We are the mother charter. It means we have a hell of a lot of allies, but we also have a fuck tonne of enemies too. That's why we've been on lockdown while the threat was dealt with. But we've had more intel, and it sounds worse than we originally thought...

I can't have you in danger Lex, and whoever it is that's fucking with us, now they know about you. Someone's been following us. You could be a target and I won't let that happen, so I kinda need you to stay here with me for a while. Just until we sort all this shit out.

Also means you can't really go to work either... I hesitated, unsure how she'd take the news.

She say silently, taking in everything I'd said. I sat silently with her, waiting for a response. Half expecting her to blow up on me, refuse to become involved in my clubs shit and storm off, leaving me unable to protect her.

After what felt like forever, she spoke quietly.

So... I can stay?

Course you can sweetheart, in fact you don't really have a choice. Its the only way the boys and I can keep you safe while dealing with whatever this threat is.

Do I get my own room? What about my stuff?

Sure, have your own room if you want, but I won't lie and say I'd rather you stay with me. And I'll get a couple prospects to grab your stuff, just write a list of what you need and we'll sort it.

Everything, she stated matter of factly.

I'm never going back to that apartment or the backstabbing bitch that lives there. And I’ll have to call Kelly and ask for some time off, a couple weeks or so.
But ok, I'll stay.

I visibly relaxed, glad that had gone way smoother than I thought it would, though I still wanted to know what went down between the two girls. Conversation for another day I decided.

I still had one more question to ask her, the dreaded one I'd saved till last.

Hey Lex... I started.

Hmm... she replied absent-mindedly.

I fucking hate to bring him up... but your ex... I need a name babe. Just to pass on to Tech. Club just needs to get some intel on him and make sure the club aren't in for any retaliation for his death.

Logan Peters... was all she said as she grew distant, falling into her own memories and thoughts.

Kissing her on the head and tucking her  back into my bed, I made her promise to try and get some rest before I left to relay the information to Tech.

It didn't take much digging on his part before we had more information then we'd ever wanted to know on Logan Peters.

The guy was a real piece of shit alright, and that was before you added woman basher to his resume.

Turns out Mr Hotshot Peters took over daddies company after high school, just as Alexis had said. But after 6months of steady profits, looks like the idiot got himself all kinds of habits, drugs, drinking, gambling, and his company went down the shitter quick smart.

Seems like you did the world a favor ridding it of a piece of shit like that, said Tech after mulling over all the information.

I'd be expecting a few thank you cards in the mail, not a retaliation hit brother. Seems the dumb ass owed almost every known crook in the city. Someone woulda got to him eventually.

Sitting back in my chair, relief washed over me. No extra shit to deal with, that's always a fucking plus.

Free's us up to remain focused on these Serpant bastards, and whoevers pulling all the strings behind the scenes.

Well, if we're done here, I'm gunna call it a night. Head upstairs, I said to Tech, getting up from my chair.

He gave me a knowing smile.

Sure thing brother, I'd do the same if I had a pretty young thing like that waiting for me. Enjoy.

Leaving the room, I couldn't help but grin. Life was fucking good, and right now I'd do anything in my power to keep it that way.
