My heart was pounding out of my chest.

I could see the pure torture in Doms face at the helplessness of our situation.

And I could feel the ever-increasing fear building in myself. The pain of being man-handled was nothing compared to the pain inside my stomach. It was coming more frequently now, and stronger too.

I couldn't even focus on the conversation being held before me.

Just as I felt another wave of pain taking hold, Dom lurched for his weapon on the table, taking me totally off guard and scaring the shit out of me.

He didn't stand a chance though, the damn thing was basically sitting in Rockets lap.

My eyes locked onto the gun as it flew across the room, coming to a stop next to the bar. Staring at it as the pain slowly subsided, I swear I saw a hand reach out from behind the bar and snatch it from the floor.

I gasped. It wasn't possible, I had to be delusional from the knock to the head or something. Rubbing my eyes, I took another look. Sure enough, the gun was gone. Had anyone else seen that?

Averting my attention back to the stand-off happening before me, it was apparent nobody had.

But then I saw the gun pointed directly at the love of my life and my heart stopped. Time stood still for a moment.

And then everything began to move in slow motion.

Dom lunged at Rocket, just as a figure appeared behind the bar, aiming Doms gun in our direction.

She made direct eye contact with me, a silent acknowledgement that we'd both seen each other, and I thanked the stars that it wasn't a Devil wielding that weapon.

It was Jessica.

Sweet, sweet Jessica, who had already been my savior once before. And here she was again, by some miracle.

She looked absolutely petrified.

Mouthing the words 'I'm sorry' at me, I saw her chest rise and fall and she took a deep breath, before she closed her eyes and fired.

The bitch closed her fucking eyes.

But I didn't have time to dwell on the fact as I watched Rocket flinch. By some miracle the bullet found its mark, piercing through Rockets ear and into his skull.

As if by reflex, Rockets finger twitched on his own trigger as he went down, his weapon discharging directly into Doms thigh as he went down.

An involuntary scream escaped my lips, causing Dom to turn slowly and face me, his skin a sickening ash grey colour. As he opened his mouth to speak, his eyes rolled back in his head and I watched as his body crumpled into a heap on the floor.

I screamed again, shuffling from out of the booth and towards Dom, when another wave of pain flooded through me, bringing me to my knees.

My vision narrowed, and an explosion of sound infiltrated my eardrums as chaos ensued around me, but I couldn't move, could barely breath through the pain rippling through my being.

I was 34 weeks 5 days pregnant. I'd been keeping track, knew it for a fact. It was too early. Whatever was happening, it wasn't good.

"Doc, get the fuck in here. NOW!" I heard a familiar voice roar, but I couldn't place it.

Footsteps rapidly approached.

"Fuck, he's been hit twice. Could be a femoral artery, we need to get it tourniqueted, stat. Unconscious, probably due to blood loss. He doesn't have much time."
