"Hey boss man, we got a problem..." Tank said seriously, barging into my office for the millionth time.
"What have I told you about fucking knocking?" I asked him, throwing a pen in his directly which he easily dodged.
"Chill man, I saw Alexis in the bar on my way here so I knew it was safe" he chuckled, and I rolled my eyes. I'd given him a black eye the day he walked in on me with my pregnant woman strategically bent over the desk.
"What's so damn important then?" I asked him, changing the topic.
"Rocket wants to see his daughter. Reckons if she doesn't come home for a few days he'll come here and visit himself."
"Shit" I replied, slumping back in my seat. When Alexis got pregnant I'd told her what we'd been doing with Ivy's body, and to say she'd been angry was an understatement. I'd never expected her to understand, she was still new to this world and the shadier side of club life. She'd made us swear to stop, and for the sake of both her and our unborn childs safety I'd agreed.
Tank had done well, monitoring Ivy's phone and keeping the charade going. Him and Tech had even used some sort of fancy app to create and send a voicemail from Ivy to Rocket. I'd listened to it, and had to admit they did a fucking good job. It sounded just like her. But this...this really threw a fucking spanner in the works, and was the last thing I needed with a pregnant old lady.
"Yep" Tank said, letting out a long breath. "Dunno how we're gonna get out of this one."
"Me either. Don't reply yet. I'll call church in the morning and bring it to the table, see if we can't come up with something." It was the best I could come up with.
"Roger that boss" Tank said, throwing his phone onto the desk. "What you working on?"
"Nothing" I replied grinning. "Dont fucking rat me out but I'm sort of avoiding Lex at the minute. Woman's been a bloody nightmare the past week or so. Asking me about paint colors and tiles like I give a shit. Packages arriving left right and fucking centre for either the house or the baby. She's gone fucking crazy, it's doing my head in."
Tank laughed, obviously enjoying my misery. "That's that domestic life shit right there for ya."
I laughed too, still not quite believing how drastically my life had changed since that fateful night at the club, where I first laid eyes on the love of my life.
"It'll happen for you one day my brother" I said, grinning at the thought of Tank tied down with some broad.
He snorted and rolled his eyes. "Yeh, right. Take one hell of a woman to tie this player down..."
I interrupted his ego by throwing another pen his way, this one finding its mark and hitting him square in the forehead.
He scowled, before snatching his phone back up from the desk and standing up from his seat.
"I'll catch you tomorrow" he said, making his way towards the door. "I'll let you know if I hear anything from the fucker again before then. Oh and if I see that woman of yours, I'll be sure to send her your way..." he trailed off, chuckling as he left.
Leaning back in my chair, I pondered the information Tank had brought to me. He was right, it was going to be a tough fucking situation to get out of, and for the life of me I couldn't think of any way out of it that didn't involve a bloodbath. And if that was the case, I sure as well wasn't going to sit around with my finger up my ass waiting for them to bring the shit storm to us. A gang war on our turf wasn't the kind of attention we wanted to draw to our small little town. And even more importantly, with Alexis and our unborn child in the picture, there's no fucking way I'd ever risk them being put in the firing line, or any sort of danger for that fact.
No, I'd take the fight to them. And we'd fucking win. We couldn't lose. There was too much at stake.
Running my hand through my hair for the millionth time, I exhaled and slammed my fist down onto the desk. The whole situation was doing my head in, and I needed a drink.
Just as I was about to grab the bottle I had stashed in a cabinet when a soft knock sounded on the door. I knew instantly Tank had made good on his word, and sure enough a few seconds later in waddled Lex.
She looked tired and uncomfortable, but absolutely fucking beautiful nonetheless. I was out of my seat and at her side in a flash, placing a small kiss on her temple before guiding her to the seat Tank had not long occupied.
"Hey gorgeous, how you feeling?" I asked gently, never quite sure what mood she'd be in these days.
"My feet are killing me Dom, I don't know how the fuck I'm gonna do this for another couple months. I want a damn drink sooo bad."
She burst into tears and as I wrapped my arms around her my heart broke  for the poor thing. Pregnancy hadn't exactly been an easy ride for her, and I truly hated watching her struggle.
Constantly natious, emotions all over the fucking place, growing increasingly uncomfortable by the day. The past seven months had flown by for me, but she'd been sure to remind me constantly how it had felt like an eternity for her. The sooner our daughter came the better.
My mind wandered back to the impending war the club undoubtedly faced, and my grip on my woman tightened subconsciously. She picked up on my tension immediately, nuzzling into my neck and sighing contenly, a move that always put me at ease.
"Come on baby, its late. Let's go to bed" I said, pulling her up from the seat and wrapping my arms around her.
"Sounds good" she replied as a yawn escaped her.
We made our way slowly up to the apartment which was slowly being packed into boxes courtesy of Lex. Our house was almost ready, and the idea had really grown on me since Alexis had sprung it on me at Christmas. Once again she'd been right. It was just what our little family needed.
As we lay in bed, my hands instinctively went for her swollen belly as they did so often these days. If the amount of kicks and movement I'd felt in there over the past couple months was anything to go by, my daughter was fixing to be some sorta kickboxer or some shit.
"I'm calling church first thing tomorrow babe, things have taken a turn with The Devils Rejects and we gotta figure some shit out. Think we've stalled on this shit for as long as possible, but it means I might have to go away for a few days, deal with it once and for all you know?"
I felt her tense up instantly.
"It's do with Ivy isn't it?" she whispered, and I couldn't lie to her.
I sighed.
"Yep. Rocket wants to see Ivy. Said if she doesn't come home asap he's coming to see her himself. Obviously that's not going to happen and I don't see any way out of it this time except to beat them to it. Head up there and deal to them ourselves before they have the chance."
She stayed silent, and I hoped she understood that I truly didn't have any choice. My mind had been going a mile a minute trying to figure out any other possible solution but I just kept coming up empty.
And with war, came risk. I couldn't think about not making it back. Not living to see the birth of my baby girl. Not getting to watch my woman thrive as the amazing mother I know she's going to be. It wasn't an option.
"Why don't you go into town with the girls tomorrow? Get outta this place for a bit and go get yourself a massage or something. Get your nails done or whatever it is you woman do. I'll call you when church is done and we can go see a movie or something, just the two of us."
"Sounds perfect" she replied sleepily, and I left it at that. Hopefully the girls would be able to distract her for the day while we figured out what the fuck to do. Chances are church would run most of the day anyway. Nobody would be leaving until we had a concrete plan in place to deal with the threat to our club.
Sleep didn't come easy to me that night, as heavy thoughts weighed on my mind. Shit was about to get real, and for the first time, nerves were getting the better of me. We had to figure this out for the sake of my club and my family. We fucking had too.
