I actually got some pretty good guesses for her, and so I'm not gonna lie I was a little sad that I already had this sketched out. So, I'll probably be doing some bonus drawings once this is done (and you know, after I take a breather XD).

Still, i had a couple of reasons as for why I chose her to portray this character. First of all, the name "Calypso" actually means "the one who conceals," and Kanon is a very private person (who also happens to be keeping a major secret from her sister), and it just so happens that they also both have pretty singing voices :)

It also so happens that Calypso's love (if we can call it that, but it's depicted that way in EPIC) for Odysseus compelled her to keep a guy imprisoned for seven years. Granted Kanon never went that far, but her need to keep people from leaving her can cloud her judgement and lead her to make irrational decisions, whether it's her sister or love interest.

The song above explains things better than I can XD

As for the artistic process, I so happened to find a perfect ibis paint-provided drawing base with the perfect dress, so it was relatively smooth (this only works if we're honest). I was originally going to make the dress white, but I think adding a bit of that dusty-rose tint added some dimension. The flowers in her hair were really fun additions if I do say so myself :)

I replaced her yellow hair band with a wrapped around ponytail, and I actually tried to do more shading with this one.

This was my first time drawing her without her uniform so I actually had to think about things like her body type—I knew I wanted her to have really soft features but up until now I didn't really think about drawing it if that makes sense. So this series is providing me with some useful challenges that'll hopefully improve my art in the future :D

Now I need to get my butt to some more sketches-

See ya!
