I'm gonna be honest, when I drew this I didn't have a form in mind, nor did I plan the colors of the crystals XD
I know I've been drawing Maiyu a lot lately, which is funny when I haven't actually worked with her in ages. What can I say, she's my practice muse when I don't have time to draw for a long period~
Plus I like making fighting style references and I've been meaning to get here down for a while
Okay now that I'm done defending myself for drawing my character, time for the fun part: the artistic process!
So I did use a Kanao scene as a general guideline, specifically the one where she was chasing Nezuko. Fun fact, this was originally supposed to be Maiyu chasing nezuko, but I decided against it. The hair and cloak came pretty easily to me, thank the stars, but the crystals and speech bubbles were a s t r u g g l e. I didn't want to hide her after working so hard and I wanted to make sure the drawing had the full effect, so the placement took a lot of trial and error.
