I need to show these two some love, so what better way to do that than by using a scene from the anime as a reference/base? I certainly can't think of one, so here we are :D
I imagine that this drawing would be sort of a follow up/continuation of my previous one, "meeting the magic siblings," although given how much Nagisa tries to introduce her to people, it could very well be a standalone event too XD
Now, I've been trying to rework Shouko's eyes a bit—the change is subtle, but I think adding the extra highlights to her eyes helps with her expressions somehow.
Luckily she was actually pretty easy for me to draw, despite being a bit out of practice. Other than some reworking of colors (ie—picking the right shades of purple for the cloak), and a bit of fixing up with her hair, I was able to get her done relatively quickly!
What I'm really glad for is that the longer pieces of her hair didn't hide her bow—it's a small thing but I like those little details to come through :D
Now if only the same could be said for Nagisa-
I should've known that getting his bangs right on the first try would be the calm before the storm, but I foolishly thought that it was a sign that maybe the art gods would have mercy on me and not prove the "Melody Can't Draw Men" joke series I've had going on for a while right. Alas, I was sorely mistaken, because I had to do a lot of attempts of both his face and body.
In fact, I didn't actually want to do a closed-eye smile, I just had so much trouble with his eyes that I straight up rage quit—I mean pivoted my creative direction—so I could have energy left over at the end to do the swords. Well, I still think it suits him, so all is not lost!
I'll settle for the victory of getting his hair right~
Well, ranting about drawing aside, it's time for the taisho secret!
It was Shouko who picked out Nagisa's haori, since she wanted the two of them to wear matching colors. He wasn't going to wear it at first, but seeing as that was the first time she took initiative for something, he now wears it proudly :3
Was this chapter sitting in my drafts because it took ages to come up with that? Why, that's for me to know and my lawyer to find out
