Hello my lovely beautiful friends and readers!
I guess we can call this proof that I can in fact be nice to my characters after all! I actually didn't plan on drawing today, but after seeing the beautiful drawing by my friendo avaaviesflowergirl of this adorable flower breathing duo, I was inspired to try a hand at it myself!
Of course, this features her lovely pure bean Yūhi Megumi, and my lovely pure bean, Ren Hanabusa!
Fun fact, I picked this pose because I saw that one of the ways she shows affection is through physical touch, and given how nervous he gets about interacting with people in general (even more if they so happen to be a love interest~), I imagined that at least at first, she would be the one to initiate this kind of thing :)
Honestly I just love the fact that they start getting to know each other as friends since I'm a huge sucker for friends to lovers. Why do I enjoy writing fluffy romance if I don't actually have any interest in it myself? Who heckin knows XD
For the artistic process, Yūhi was surprisingly quick! There was a little trial and error with her hair to make sure that it was facing the right way, and I had to redo the hairpiece colors a couple times (I'm still not sure if I got it right, but I tried my best to get it as accurate as possible), but other than that it was pretty smooth sailing. I actually challenged myself to draw the whole haori pattern by hand instead of doing the copy paste method :)
Ren on the other hand...oh boy, he was an endeavor XD
And surprisingly a majority of the time wasn't spent on his hair—sure it took a couple tries, but it didn't tempt me to rage quit so yay progress! No, my friends, the real struggle was his facial expression. The eyes kept coming out lopsided or just not the right shape, and while he was surprised/flustered I didn't want him to look uncomfortable around her since this is supposed to be sweet and wholesome. Maybe it's because it was so different from the base, but it took more than a few attempts before I finally got something I was happy with.
I do think it was worth it though, because I'm actually really proud of this! I think they look really sweet together ^-^
And now it's time for a taisho secret of my very own :)
Perhaps this is a little unique, but I'd imagine that one way Ren shows affection/love is to leave sweet notes and drawings, as well as of course spending quality time together ^-^
