It has dawned on me that I don't have a single Amaya drawing in my art book, which I believe is a crime considering how hard I worked on her. So, what better way to introduce her to my art book than with a breathing style reference?
Honestly, considering how much I've struggled sketching her traditionally (those were post it doodles that I'm not letting see the light of day cause I shredded them lolz), this one was surprisingly smooth sailing (yes I used a base, let me work my way up XD). I'm gonna toot my own horn and say that I'm proud of her facial expression—I pulled that off on the first try, can you believe it?
Also ever since I've been enlightened with the adding text to the bottom (and finding the right font and style) I've just been obsessed. Heck it's what motivated me to do the background, which I think completes it. Of course, I'm not giving up my handwritten speech bubbles, I'm just glad I can do fun stuff with both :)
In honor of her debut in my art book, here's a Taisho Era Secret!
Amaya's haori combines the designs of both her mother and father's respective haoris that she was given when she became a demon slayer. Little writer insight, it can also be used to symbolize her unpredictable emotions and her "two sides~"
