Okay so clearly I'm on a kick of hurting my characters through art-
While I'm sure we love seeing Tsubaki being our favorite strong hearted sass queen, I can't let anyone forget that underneath all of that is a sensitive person who gets hurt just as easily as anyone else~
For this piece I was kind of inspired by an idea I had where she's just discovering the death of her former mentor that she's been writing letters to, as she really valued that relationship even if they ended up going their separate ways. My girl has the habit of burying emotions like this and tends to mask it with anger and her trademark stubbornness, but when she's alone I can see her letting it all out.
I actually tried out a new artistic process where I did a sketch layer in a different color and then a clean outline in black, since I've always envied those drawings I see with perfect beautiful line art. Mine isn't perfect but it's definitely less sketchy than what I usually do XD
Honestly I wanted to draw something today so I kind of just started sketching the vague idea I had (no base not clickbait) and ran with it. I've been really trying to practice my drawing more and this was a good opportunity for me to do so!
Surprisingly this was a mostly smooth artistic process, but the one thing that really tripped me up was the eyes and getting the irises to look similar enough so where she didn't look like her eyes were crossed (my sister has graciously pointed out this little drawing habit I have). Luckily I noticed it early on before I started coloring/shading because if I didn't I might've just rage quit XD
Anyways, I hope you enjoyed this deeper look into one of my favorite characters to work with (although to be fair, they're all my favorites to work with! ^-^), or at the very least that you don't hate me too much for this XD
See ya!
