Pov Sage

The curtains fly open and Meri enters.

"Here's your pizza," he says in a fake Italian accent.

He has one of those fake Italian mustaches. I burst out laughing. He sits next to me on the bed.

"If you don't want your pizza, I'll eat it," Meri says in the same accent.

I have to laugh even more. He opens the box and takes a slice of Hawaiian pizza. I'll take a piece too.

"I thought you didn't like it," he says again, like a fake Italian.

"I like pizza," I try to imitate him.

Then he also laughs when he hears my fake accent.

"Okay, we better not work as pizza deliverers," Meri laughs.

I chuckle and shake my head.

"Sage is Meri there?" I hear Mom ask sternly from the other side of the door.

Oh oh...

"Quick," I whisper to him and push him under my bed with the pizza.

I grab my phone and quickly hold it to my ear. The door opens and Mom looks around the room suspiciously.

"I swear I heard him," she says.

"Mom," I hiss and point to my phone.

"Oh sorry. Goodnight are you going to sleep like this?" she asks.

I nod. She walks out of my room again. Meri crawls out from under the bed.

"Is the coast clear?" he asks.

I nod. Mom knows he can get into my room through my window. He does that quite often. Me too, the other way around, but yes, now we are with me. Now that I'm under house arrest, I don't think that's allowed, so yes. Meri plops down next to me on the bed and puts the pizza box in front of him. He leans back and puts one hand behind his head and eats his pizza with the other. I also grab a piece of pizza and lie on my back.

Meri turns on his side and looks at me. I do the same and soon we start laughing. That's the great thing about best friends. Being able to look at each other and laugh.

"That girl really is that," says Meri.

I nod.

"She's hot, but she's so terribly annoying, she has such a squeaky voice," he says.

He sits up and pretends to let his long hair fall behind his shoulder. He just doesn't have one, which makes it look very funny. He rolls his eyes exaggeratedly and then says in a high-pitched voice.

"Daddy, I didn't want a green Ferrari, but a pink one. Urggh, you don't understand what I want, do you," I immediately laugh.

Wow that voice alone.

"Yes," he laughs as he lies down again.

"It's good that she's already gone home, otherwise we would have had a bitch fight." Meri grins.

"Hey did you just call me a bitch?!" I say in mock hurt.

He nods convincingly.

"No, you're not kidding, you're my best friend so why the hell would I call you a bitch," he laughs.

"Oohh, now that you mention it, you know what I found the other day," I say and get off the bed.

I pull an old dusty box from under my bed. I put him on the bed and Meri looks at me strangely. I open it. All my old Barbie and Ken dolls are in there that me and Meri played with quite often. He laughs and takes a Ken doll from the box.

"Oh yes, I remember that. I colored them all green the day we moved in next door," he laughs.

I chuckle and nod.

"The famous day we became best friends," I laugh.

"Yes, no one really believes that story. Do you understand that?" Meri says laughing.

"Somehow, the player became best friends with me and started playing with Barbies. Makes sense too, or something," I laugh.

"Hey, you can say whatever you want about me, but the day we became best friends is a very good story, no offense," he says with mock sternness.

I burst out laughing.
