Pov Sage

I take a red cup from the boy. He smiles at me. I'll just take a look at the contents.

"It's just beer," he chuckles.

I start laughing and throw it back.

"Some girls like that better," he explains.

"What difference does it make, you drink the same thing," I laugh.

He shrugs. I chuckle.

"Shall we go dancing?" he asks.

I look at the dance floor. Bertha and Meri are dancing and Arya is also dancing with a boy. Oh well, why not.

"Yes Nice!" I say and walk with him to the dance floor.

He puts his hands on my hips and I put my hands on his neck.

"I'm Dylan. In case you probably didn't know that yet," he laughs.

"I'm Sage," I smile back.

He nods and smiles.

When the song ends I feel someone tapping my shoulder. I look over my shoulder. It's Arya.

"Are you coming. We're going to have a drink with the rest," Arya says and points to a table where Meri and Bertha walk to.

"Are you coming?" I ask.

He nods and follows us to the table.

"Hey everyone. This is Dylan," I smile.

"Hey," he says dryly.

Bertha sits on Meri's lap while she runs her hands through his hair. I can't even do that myself!

Meri looks at me questioningly and then suspiciously at Dylan. Dylan sits next to me and I lean against him.

"Sage can I talk to you for a moment?" Meri asks without letting go of Dylan's gaze.

"Sure" I chuckle.

I climb over Dylan. Meri also stands up. He grabs my arm and pulls me outside.

"What is?" I ask him.

"You shouldn't trust people like him too quickly. He's probably not who you think he is," Meri says, barely sparing me a glance.

Why doesn't he just look at me?

"It has a name," I growl at him.

"What do you suddenly have?" Meri asks.

"I was just about to ask you that," I hiss.

Meri looks visibly once.

"If you have something against Dylan, tell him," I growl and want to walk back inside.

"Yes, just follow them again just like you did with Fox and Axel," I hear Meri mumble.

He probably hoped I wouldn't hear it. He's having some bad luck. I walk back to Meri.

"I heard that," I say softly and hurt.

I slap him in the face. I've never done it to him, but he deserved it. Asshole.

A tear rolls down my cheek. Meri barely seems to see me as his best friend anymore. Who is this and where is my Meri?

I quickly wipe away my tears and run inside; past our table to a corner at the back of the room. I put my head in my hands and sobs quietly leave my mouth. Several tears roll down my cheeks. How could he say that?

I also see Meri walking back inside. He pulls Bertha off the bench and presses his lips to hers. And those lovely people. That's the moment my heart completely broke and I literally lost all the pieces of the puzzle.

I feel someone grab my hands. I look up and Dylan is looking at me worriedly.

Why on earth could I not trust him?

"What happened?" he asks.

"Meri... He... We're fighting," I sob.

Dylan nods understandingly.

"You don't have to say it if you don't want to," he smiles.

I nod somewhat absently at him.

"Come on, let me take you home," he says and helps me up.

I nod gratefully again. I don't want to stay here a second longer. I came here with my best friend and now I've lost him.

We walk past our table. Arya and the boy are the only ones left. Meri is still kissing Bertha.

"I'm going," I say.

Arya looks at me questioningly.

"I'll explain it again. Dylan is taking me home," I say again.

She stands up and pulls me into a hug. A few more tears escape from the corner of my eye. Then they come back on their own.

"Are you okay, Sage?" Arya asks worriedly.

"No," I sob.

She wraps her arms around me and rubs my back comfortingly.

"I'll come over, okay?" she says.

I smile and nod. Dylan grabs my hand and walks outside with me. I look over my shoulder and see Arya pulling Meri off Bertha and starting to yell angrily at him.

She knows me too well.

I turn back to Dylan who smiles sweetly at me.

I just want to go home at the moment.

"This is it," I say.

"Okay Sage. Take it easy," he smiles worriedly.

I nod and press a kiss on his cheek. I get out of the car and walk inside. I close the door behind me and sink against it on the floor. I put my head in my hands and a few more lonely tears roll down my cheeks.

I hear two voices. Mom's and...

No, not that either.

Mom and that man who calls himself my father walk into the hallway laughing.

"Sage?" Mom asks when she sees me.

I look up with red eyes from crying.

"Sweetheart, what happened?" she asks and walks towards me.

"No, stay there," I hiss.

"Sage, you don't talk to your mother like that," he shouts.

"It's better if you don't talk to me at all," I mumble.

"What!" he shouts.

"Sage, what just happened?" Mom asks again.

"Arguing... Meri," I mumble and then storm up the stairs.

I run into my room and slam the door shut. I plop down on my bed and fall asleep quite quickly.
