Pov Meri

I get in the car and quickly stuff a sandwich in my mouth. I throw my bag on the backseat and drive the car to Sage's house. I honk a few times. She comes out and quickly gets in. "Aloha" she says and throws her bag in the back as well. "Hey" I say and step on the accelerator. We're already late. I hadn't overslept. Only seems that way.

Sage gets out. We're too late. Happens often. "Play along," I say to Sage. She looks at me questioningly. "Pretend you've sprained your ankle or something," I laugh. She chuckles and nods. She puts her arm around my neck for so-called support and limps inside on one leg. "Can someone help!" I shout when we get inside. The teacher from the library approaches. The place where you will never find me. You should shut up and read. Urghh. "Shht" she hisses at me. "We are not in the library. Sage broke her ankle" I say and gesture to her foot. "Oh come on," she says worriedly. She turns and walks forward. Sage laughs softly. I chuckle. We follow her. We enter a room. Sage has to sit on a chair.

The teacher holds an ice pack on her ankle. I lean against the door. Sage suddenly bursts out laughing. I look at her questioningly. "You have a chocolate milk moustache. Brute," she laughs. I look in the window where I see myself in the reflection. I chuckle and see the chocolate milk stuck above my lip. I wipe it away with a piece of my sleeve. "Is it gone?" I ask laughing. She chuckles and nods.

"Go back to class quickly." The teacher says. I nod and pick Sage up. She laughs. We have history so I have a class with Sage. "You know, I can walk," Sage laughs. "Me, too. What a coincidence" I laugh. She puts her hand over her head. I chuckle and open the door to history. I walk inside. "Sage and Meri," the teacher says grumpily. Deformed potato. "Where do you come from?" he asks. "The hallway" I growl and walk to the back of the classroom. Normally I would skip a lesson like history, but now Sage is there. Then there is something to laugh about. I see a few girls looking at Sage bitchy and then flirting at me. I grin and kiss Sage's cheek. "Meri!" she shouts laughing and pushes me away. Oh well, whatever you call it, pushes it away. I chuckle. All the girls look from me to Sage in surprise. "I don't have anything to do with him, so just look away," Sage shouts. "Sage!" the teacher shouts. She cringes. I chuckle and tickle her. She starts laughing very loudly. "MERI AND SAGE GET OUT!" he shouts. "YESSS" I shout and Sage's face goes away. I poke her in the shoulder. "Come," I say. She's not actually being sent out. Unless I'm there, of course. She gets up and jumps on my back. I chuckle and walk out of the room.

We sit in the auditorium. I throw my feet on the table. Sage sits next to me. "Are you OK?" I ask. Her face is still white. She shakes her head. "If mom knows this. I'm going to die and then I have to study at a boarding school forever," she rattles off. "Sage breath" I laugh and breathe in and out exaggeratedly. She sighs laughing and makes fun of me. "Good, you get it" chuckle and pull her onto her lap, she laughs and picks up her phone. She opens snap and takes a picture of us. I chuckle. She forwards him to Arya and some other friends. We immediately get a response from Arya. "Relationship goals" it says with a satisfied smiley. "No, dear friends," she replies. "Forever" I smile and wrap my arms around her. "Yup," she chuckles approvingly. I smile. I wouldn't want to have another best friend.
