Pov Bertha

The bell finally rings. I pack my things and hang my bag over my left shoulder. I walk out of the room. In front of me I see Sage and Dylan walking. I think they would make a really nice couple together.

I don't think they are yet. Of course, I could just ask Sage, but I don't really know what she thinks of me.

Either she looks at me strangely or she runs away. No, I don't think she really likes me.

Which I don't really understand since I've never actually spoken to her. The hallway is quite empty. Sage and Dylan also turned off somewhere.

I only see one little girl and some other older people sitting at the back of the hallway. Seniors start yelling at her. The girl cowers. They throw her book out of her hands. They curse her and start hitting her. I quickly run towards them. I push the girl out of the way, causing myself to receive a blow to the jaw. I end up on the ground.

A boy of 17, I'm guessing, hovers over me.

"Pay attention, little one," he hisses.

He gives the girl another dangerous look. Then he and his friends walk out of the hallway. The loser.

I crawl up. The girl is scared and sobbing softly. I crouch down in front of her.

"Hey, are you okay?" I ask.

Her blue eyes look at me in shock.

"Do they bully you more often?" I ask.

The girl nods cautiously. Immediately an evil shiver runs through me. I can't stand it when people bully someone!

I also help the girl up. I extend my hand, which she takes gently.

"I'm Bertha," I smile.

"Well Lydia, you have very nice shoes," I smile.

A light soft and proud smile appears on her little face. He's only a first grader. Where do you get the nerve to bully a first grader as a senior?

That's so not fair.

I hate bullying, but find someone your own height!

I nod to Lydia.

"I really like them!" I say.

"Thank you," she smiles back.

"Bertha?!" I hear Meri shouting from somewhere in the hallway.

I turn and wave at him. He looks and walks towards me. He puts an arm around my waist and butterflies fly through my stomach again. I glance at Lydia again, smiling.

She takes a step back, scared.

"Lydia, this is Meri, my boyfriend," I introduce him.

"Hey," Meri responds dryly.

"Hi," Lydia says shyly.

"I have to go to class," she says quickly.

She turns and rushes away. Weird...

Meri turns me around again. He picks me up and spins around. I run my hands through his hair as soon as he puts me down again. He presses a kiss to my forehead. I close my eyes in pleasure. His hands rest on my hips.

The bell rings again. Meri's lips leave my forehead and press one last kiss to my temple.

He looks over me for a moment. I turn around too. His grip on my hips loosens slightly. Sage and Sale are also kissing in the hallway a little further away. Aww they are indeed really cute together.

I turn back to Meri. He keeps looking at them. I get it too. Sage is his best friend. Of course he wants to protect her from bad boyfriends. Only he shouldn't become that himself.

I press a kiss on his lips. His attention is immediately back on me.

"Just distracted?" I ask laughing.

He chuckles softly and shakes his head slightly.

"By the way, my parents would also like to meet you sometime," I smile.

"During dinner or something," I chuckle when I see his slightly shocked face.

His facial expression immediately softens again.

"It'll be fine," he smiles.

I'm quite curious what my parents will think of him. I've never really had a boyfriend much. For Meri I think two others.

I'm so glad Meri and I met. I'm so happy he became my boyfriend.

We met at the restaurant where I work. I came to take his order. He was with his mother. When I brought the drink, his mother asked how old I was. After that we actually started talking quite quickly. Not much later I also finished work. I changed from work clothes to one of my shirts in the back of the staff shed. I sat back down again. We then met up a few more times and now we are here.

I feel a big smile unconsciously forming on my face.

I really, really like Meri. To think that I was actually filling in for someone else that day. I didn't even have to work, but I'm so glad I did. Otherwise I wouldn't have even known Meri. I really, really like him.

Thank you for reminding me what butterflies feel like.
