Chapter 47: Shivering Envy

After finding Frye, the New Squidbeak Splatoon had recovered some sort of weird machinery from inside a vault of the second island's facility. The gang was outside loading this thing on the S.S. Harland for Friede to take it back to camp on the first island of Alterna.

"I wonder what this thing is." Said Ash.

Soon, Friede approaches the gang. "Alright, the do hickey is loaded up on the ship. I'll take it back to camp for Marie or Orla to have a look at it. So, you say you faced a member of Deep Cut."

"Yeah, because Frye was already there, I'm certain their picking up the signals we're detecting." Said Callie.

"Well, I suggest you hurry to the next island before the other members of Deep Cut or the Explorers beat you there." Friede said before boarding back the ship, then sailing back to the first island in the waters.

"You heard him, we got to get moving." Said Rider. "Can anyone spot the tube?"

"Over there!" Cirrina shouted as she pointed at the tube near a power line.

With that, everyone hops in the tube for another ride, on their way to the third island.

Back at the first island, the rest of the gang was examining this mysterious machinery that Friede brought.

"Whoa! This is one of the most interesting machines I've laid eyes on!" Said Orla.

"But does anyone know anything about it? It just looks like an old piece of junk to me." Said Friede.

"Have no clue. This thing doesn't look like anything some Inkling or Octoling would make." Said Marie. "Plus, it looks old, like, really old."

Suddenly, Marie feels her communicator vibrating and takes it out. There was an upcoming transmission. It was from gramps.

"It's gramps!"

"Marie, my darling. You're okay!" Cuttlefish said through the transmission. "Is Callie alright too?"

"She's fine, well, at least physically. Anyway, I should be asking you this. Where are you?"

"I mean, I'm locked in some kinda dark room, which I guess ain't exactly ideal... I'll see if I can break out. Over!"

"Don't do anything too, rash! Call us if anything happens!" But Cuttlefish had already hung up on her. "I hope the others find him fast."

On the third island, the gang is venturing through what looked like an icy landscape facility. Zorua and Little Buddy were either skating or slithering through a frozen lake.

Cirrina decided to join them, and she surprisingly skates well with the boots she had on. "Whee! This is so much fun!"

"Man, how is she doing that?" Said Rider.

"I'm surprise that there's an actual snowy area in a place filled with fake snow." Said Ash. "It's actually a little cold here, to be honest."

In the frozen lake, Little Buddy makes a stop after slowly bumping into a little orange building. It looked like some sort of portable shelter, and they were more of them all over this place.

"You okay, Little Buddy?" Asked Brenda.

"He seems fine, but what is this building he found?" Wondered Ash.

The shelter building had a glass room covering the entrance like the one at the second island's factory. So with curiosity, everyone goes inside, where they see a door with one of those hand scanners.
