Chapter 58: Ryme The Rapper ft. the Squid Sisters

(Montenevera, Paldea Region)

After an encounter with another Titan Pokemon, our heroes have dressed up to walk through a snowy trail to Montenevera at the edge of Glaseado Mountain. After a couple hour hike, they finally arrived for Callie and Marie's implementation test with gym leader Ryme.

"We made it... Montenevera...." Ash said, feeling exhausted and cold.

"Oh, look how pretty this town is with all the snow and candles!" Callie shouted as she held Glowy to keep him warm.

"Look how many candles people lit." Marie said as she and the gang saw people placing candles by the many others that were scattered across this beautiful town. "I wonder why that is?"

"These candles help guide souls who have departed to find peace." Said an elderly woman as she and her husband approached the gang.

"A town that helps souls find peace?" Wondered Ash.

"Yes, we also have a history of festivals to bring joy to the ones in the afterlife." Said the elderly man. "But in recent years, we began hosting concerts during the festivals in the town's plaza."

"Concerts in a town like this?! I want to see one!" Callie shouted in excitement.

"Callie, do you forget that we came here for our implementation test?" Marie said before turning back to the elderly couple. "Do you know where the gym is?"

"Why, it's right over there." The husband points to the gym, which was right beside them on a little snowy hill.

"Yeah, race you there, Marie!" Callie shouted as she dashed towards the gym. Through, Marie didn't bother running.

"Okay, thanks for the directions." Ash thanked the couple before going to catch up with the cousins. As he went towards the gym, he saw there was some sort of stage out in the open, and there was a crowd gathering.

"Hey, Ash!" A familiar trainer with a puffy magenta tuft shouted from the crowd.

"Roy!" As Ash went to meet up with Roy, he noticed two Pokemon beside him. One looked like Fuecoco, and the other looked like a little bird. "You're Fuecoco evolved! And, who's this Pokemon?"

"My Fuecoco evolved into Crocalor after catching this little Wattrel right here!"

"Wattrel?" Ash said as he took out his Rotom Phone for info on Wattrel.

*Wattrel, the Storm Petrel Pokemon, an electric and flying type. When its wings catch the wind, the bones within produce electricity. It dives within the ocean stunning foes by electrocuting them.*

"That sounds about right." Said Roy. "The electrifying abilities of this little guy and the powerful voice of Crocalor is how we won our battle against Ryme."

"I'm guessing you passed your implementation test."

"Sure did!" Roy shouted as he showed off his Tera Orb. "Say, where are those Pokemon-like girls you were traveling with?"

Inside the gym, Callie and Marie were at the front counter in the lobby to ask for the whereabouts of Ryme.

"What, she's not here?!" Shouted Callie.

"I'm sorry, she went out a short while ago." Said the woman on the front counter. "You'll have to come back later."

"This has to be a joke..." Marie whispered.

After the unfortunate luck, the cousins exit the gym and make their way back outside.
