Chapter 41: Remembering the Darkest Day

(Hammerlocke, Galar Region)

After some "training" from Opal, our heroes are on their way to Circhester, where Ash's battle with Bede will really take place. Right now, their making a quick pit stop in Hammerlocke.

"Glowy is all healed up." Nurse Joy said as she handed Glowy back to Callie.

"Thank you!" Said Callie.

"Alright, let's head to Circhester!" Said Ash.

Marie was outside taking a drink at one of those triple drinking fountains. "That was refreshing."

Suddenly, she gets knocked over by someone's Pokemon. Soon, the Pokemon starts licking her nonstop.

A trainer wearing a blue sweater approaches Marie. "I'm really sorry about that! My Boltund gets excited a lot."

"It's alright. Ash would've definitely enjoyed this....." Said Marie.

"Ash? You don't happen to mean Ash Ketchum, right?"

"You know him?"

"Yeah, I'm actually his rival from when we traveled together. I'm Hop."

"Marie is my name. Ash should be coming out of the Pokemon Center any minute now."

Soon, Ash and Callie stepped out of the Pokemon Center, where Ash caught a glimpse of a familiar rival. "Hop! It's you!"

"Ash! I didn't think you would come back!" Shouted Hop.

Both Ash and Hop give a high five of greet.

"Ash, is this a friend of yours?" Asked Callie.

"Yep. A well know rival and friend training to be a Pokemon Professor." Ash replied.

Soon, both began to catch up on their adventures, and Hop asked Ash what he's been doing since he left. "What are you doing back here?"

"I've entered the World Coronation Series." Ash explains. "I came back to challenge one of my opponents on my list, Bede! What have you been up to?"

"I've been helping Sonia out with some research and looking into old Galar legends." Hop replied in a joyful tone. Then remembered why he's in Hammerlocke right now. "Oh I was supposed to meet her and Gloria at the gym right now!"

This got Ash excited. "Gloria is here too?!"

"Yes! She's going to be surprised to see you here. Why not join me at the gym right now?" Hop said as he pointed at the Hammerlocke Gym.

"You mean that gym?!" Callie shouted as she saw that this gym was much bigger and different than the one in Ballonlea. It looked more like a castle.

"Yeah! We'll join you!" Said Ash.

Soon, everyone made their way to the Hammerlocke gym. Once inside, they saw Raihan was waiting for Hop.

"Hop." Raihan greeted. He was surprised that Hop didn't come alone and smiled at the person next to him. "Say, I know that face anywhere."

"Hey, Raihan." Ash greeted.

"I didn't think you'd come back, Mr. Champion." Raihan Teased. "I'm guessing you're also here to see Sonia. Follow me to the field."

Everyone followed Raihan inside the gym, where they soon arrived at the battlefield. Gloria, Sonia, and even Professor Magnolia were all waiting.

"Ash?!" Gloria shouted in joy. "Is that really you?!"

"Yeah, I'm back!" Ash said happily.

"I'm guessing she's another close friend of yours." Said Marie.

"Yeah, Hop and Gloria, we've had many adventures together in Galar."
