Nearly a month had gone by in the blink of an eye.

Evan, Adam and Blaze had been hunting down monsters and clearing quests faster than the city had ever seen adventurers do. They spent all day long outside Dispel's walls, fighting off monsters in dungeons or hunting down those that had escaped.

Beasts normally didn't wander far from the portal from which they had come from, but it could happen, mostly when the hierarchy in the dungeon was threatened. In those times, it was the adventurers' job to make sure that no harm came to civilians.

The little family didn't have much luck in the weeks following Blaze's evolution, as they had yet to meet another monster as powerful as the snake. They chose to challenge their trio by fighting hordes of monsters instead of solitary beasts. That way, they really had to work together and the battle was much harder to win.

However, they had faced many deranged beasts, like the others in the little village that they saved when they had just arrived in the city. The monsters had all the same symptoms, they were stronger, looked like they had taken drugs and were loner. After the trio had defeated those, they were able to confirm that all those monsters had puncture marks on their neck.

It was worrying, and the couple had no choice but to alert the adventurers' guild about this phenomenon. Sadly, they weren't taken seriously. Sylvie and Lev even tried to make things move in the guilds, but the upper management discarded their worries. If the monsters were stronger, they just had to send more powerful adventurers. They chose to remain blind to the fact that someone was probably experimenting with beasts, someone whose goal remained unknown.

It greatly disappointed Adam, but it only confirmed his suspicion that people with power were more prone to turning a blind eye to the problems of others. Hidden in their castles surrounded by protective artifacts, their guards would easily take care of the monsters in a frenzy. However, the commoners weren't that lucky.

This event only made the couple feel repulsion toward the city, so they chose to hide Blaze's human appearance in Dispel, allowing the fox to shift only in the privacy of their room in the inn, or when in the woods, far from the city. The upper management in the city could bring troubles to them if they knew of the shifter's abilities. Corrupts and egoist people like those would do anything to appear special. It would bring less trouble, even more so because they needed to leave soon to head toward the Aleksy's tribe.

Today, Adam had been gathering intel on his possible family, sneaking around to know about their whereabouts. The tribe often migrated due to the climate, but at that time of the year, when the weather was getting colder, they would head toward the tropical forests. There were less chances of getting stuck in the snow with an abundant amount of trees covering the sky with their leaves.

The family was in luck, as even though Dispel was situated in the North, there was a large tropical forest only a few weeks away where the Aleksy's tribe was often spotted. The tribe lived mostly in the South, they were even known as the South's savages. Therefore, one would expect them to take cover in a tropical forest in this region, but it wasn't the case. The reason was simple: the South was too dry. In winter, it was the most noticeable, because the cold would become much worse and the skin would easily get frostbites. In the North, the weather was much more humid, making the cold feel less like daggers and more like a cold blanket.

On the flip side, the summer was hell in the North because of the humidity, which meant the Aleksy's tribe most often wandered in the South in spring, summer and autumn, only going off tracks in winter.

The North had its advantages and disadvantages.

Thinking of the North, Adam's mind couldn't help but think of the reason why he left his family. Having been forcibly betrothed to the Duke of the North, known for his sadism, he had run away. Just thinking of what could have happened to him if he had been captured sent shivers down his spine. He had yet to see the Duke in his stay in Dispel, mostly because the demon lived far away in his castle, but he should still be careful not to cross paths with him. Maybe gathering intel about the man would help avoid him, and he could also know what happened to his family after he left.

It made him wonder if the reason why his family was looking for him wasn't because of pettiness or greed, but more because they were in trouble with the Duke because of him.

He hoped it was the second option, it would be funnier.

Thus, Adam started to collect information about the Duke of the North along with information about the Aleksy's tribe. Evan would probably get all possessive and jealous when he would learn that his lover was looking into another man, but Adam chose to deal with his bear later on. For now, he was on a mission.

The plan for today had been that Adam gathered intel while Evan spent some time with Blaze. The warrior felt like the giant wasn't close enough with their adopted son, and he wanted their bond to get stronger. It was a simple wish, really. What he did not expect would be that Evan would take this opportunity to teach the fox about letting his two parents have their sexy time without getting bothered, when he needed to leave and how to act around Adam. The giant wanted to avoid his hedgehog running off from shyness, and it needed to start with Blaze knowing what to say and what not to say around him.

The weird father and son duo bonded, just like Adam hoped, just not in the way he wished for.

Though, the warrior wouldn't realize it before a long time, only feeling that Evan was even more proactive than before in intimacy and that they had more time to spend alone now without Blaze.

Adam's brows furrowed as he heard some weird rumors about the Duke, coming out of his thoughts.

Hey dear readers, can you guess the rumors?
