Fairytale by Alexander Rybak~
After the members of the convoy finished putting the fur in the carriage, they wrapped the meat into papers covered in a good layer of salt. They would probably eat it later tonight over a bond fire. The rest of the day was pretty much the same as before, small dumb monsters attacking them only to be whipped out.
As their horse carried them at a somewhat fast pace, Adam rested his back against Evan's chest. The slave looked down at his master with soft eyes, he was deeply enjoying the way the warrior would let out small sounds of joy when seeing new animals. His lover was like a child discovering a new world, glancing around curiously with his eyes sparkling with interest.
Adam had nearly never left the mansion, and when he did, it was only to roam the streets. It was his first time in a forest.
Evan let his free hand gently stroke his lover's abdominal muscles, feeling the six packs tense under his fingertips before relaxing as they adapted to the touch. His other hand held their horse's reins, Adam having passed on the job to him. The warrior, having both hands free, chose to hold his partner's arm and hand on his stomach, stroking the skin and playing with the soft brown hairs on it. Sometimes he would take out dried beef and feed it to Evan, the latter taking the opportunity to nimble and lick his master's fingers teasingly. It would make Adam blush and grumble each time, which in return made the slave grin. They continued this way for hours, not needing anything other than each other's presence.
They were so in their little bubble that they didn't even notice the employees glancing at them from time to time, wondering if the two men were newlyweds on their honeymoon or strong adventurers hired to guard their convoy.
Adam and Evan didn't need to dismount their horse until Bastien finally told the group that it was time to make a camp. They had reached a small open place surrounded by trees.
Evan got down first, holding out his arms to help Adam get down as the man was shorter. The warrior glanced around furtively, and not seeing anyone looking their way, he allowed his slave to help him down by holding his waist firmly. It was only when his feet touched the ground that Adam saw that Bastien had come down from his seat and had been walking their way while he wasn't paying attention. He was now looking at them with a raised brow. The hedgehog muttered a thank you, embarrassed, before scurrying away to gather what little pieces of his dignity he could find.
Evan's eyes followed his tomato to make sure he didn't run away too far before turning to face the incoming merchant. His soft appearance immediately turned cold and hostile. Bastien held back a flinch as he felt the menacing aura around the giant. Suddenly, his first impression of a harmless bear turned into one of a ferocious monster. Cold sweat flowed down his back as he twisted together his shaky hands. His intuition was screaming at him that this man was dangerous and to run away.
How could this man be so different now that his companion was gone?!
"What?" Evan nearly barked at the merchant, annoyed that Adam was getting farther and farther away from him as Bastien struggled to form a coherent sentence. Now that his lover wasn't around him, he didn't need to keep his pretense up. He knew that he reminded Adam of his teddy bear from when he was a child because the warrior had mumbled about it in his sleep, so since that night, he had been trying to resemble it the most he could. Evan felt that this way, his master would have less thoughts of leaving him, and it seemed like it had been working perfectly.
Now that the shorter man was gone, he didn't want to interact with anyone.
"I-I just wanted to ask if you and your partner would like to eat with us the saber-tooth's meat." Bastien cleared his throat before answering. It was, after all, Adam and Evan's catch, it would be an embarrassment for them to eat it without sharing. Evan, pleased with how the merchant called Adam his partner, chose to show some courtesy.
"It's fine. Eat it all yourselves. Then..." Evan nodded curtly to Bastien before leaving without waiting for an answer. It was the most he could allow without being around Adam but with another human.
Evan left a gobsmacked Bastien behind and went on a search for his prey. He waltzed his way through the tents poorly made as they were only temporary and not there for beauty. The forest was calm, the green bushes rustling slightly as a cooling breeze caressed them. Birds could be heard singing their love as squirrels chirped at them to be quieter so they could collect their nuts in silence. A flowery scent tickled Evan's nostrils and he glanced around to find its origin. A small bush of light blue flowers greeted him as they swayed in the wind just at his right.
The passing image of a pair of glistening blue eyes flashed in his mind, their owner looking teasingly at him.
The small flowers looked delicate with intricate yellow veins at their center, but one should not underestimate them as behind the soft petals were hidden thorns. With a delicacy that Evan didn't know he even had, the giant gently plucked a few flowers without piercing his fingertips, slowly moving until a good-looking bouquet was firmly held in his left hand. Lifting it to his nose, Evan could smell the soothing scent from before.
The slave left the bush looking pitifully empty alone, resuming his search for his hedgehog.
He found his lover bare-chested, having taken off his tunic. Adam had also taken off his shoes and rolled his pants to his knees so he could enter a river. The water was sparkly and clean, letting the passersby see small shiny fishes swimming down the river, along with the white pebbles on the ground.
The warrior was throwing water on his chest and back, washing away the sweat.
Evan looked with dark eyes as his master's dark skin glistened when the sun rays hit it, making him look nearly ethereal.
A tent slowly formed in his pants as he stared at Adam's flexing muscles, and he finally decided to throw his rationality away as he prepared to join the man in the river.
