Chapter 121

Once Adam had finally gotten all the semen out of his body and had freshened up with a bath, he dressed himself as Evan took his turn. They knew that if they wanted to get anything done today, they couldn't take a bath together. Both were too horny for that, even after all those years spent together.

Evan finished dressing up and then they headed out, only to encounter a half-dead Kaleb.

The dark mage looked as if all the life had been sucked out of him. His eyes were bloodshot and the dark circles under his eyes had become even more pronounced, which was a miracle in itself. He normally looked like a racoon, but now he looked like a panda.

He glared at them once his brain seemed to register their presence.

"All. Fucking. Night." The man forced out, his voice full of resentment. The two lovers glanced at each other before turning to face the angry chihuahua. Kaleb's body was swaying right and left, and he looked like he would topple over if they spoke too loudly.

"Sorry, Kaleb... We didn't know the walls were so thin..." Adam tried to apologize, truly feeling bad for having kept the mage up all night. They knew that the man already suffered from insomnia from the start, so each minute of sleep was precious to him. He already looked in poor health, and now he clearly looked close to dying.

"No, no, no... It's my fault for having ears..." Kaleb muttered before he started walking away like a resentful ghost, swaying as he walked. Adam hurried to catch him as the mage stumbled on empty air, Kaleb's whole body slack like a cooked noodle.

"S-sorry, fainted for a second..." Kaleb muttered as he opened his eyes, looking dazingly at the warrior.

"Kaleb, you are making us worried now. What's wrong? Are you sick?" Evan asked as he came closer. The mage shook his head as he tried to stand up, only to slump against Adam again, looking exhausted and undernourished.

"You look like we are abusing you..." Adam joked in an attempt to lighten the mood, starting to feel really bad. It hadn't been long that the mage had come back from the blink of death, and since then he hadn't had a moment of rest. Under all the bubbly facade the man always put up, he wasn't doing well. Now that Adam and Evan took the moment to truly look at Kaleb, the mage was clearly far too skinny and sleep deprived for it to be healthy.

"It's nothing... Dark magic comes with a cost, that's all. After a big spell like the one I used to bring us here, I normally sleep for many days and I need my assistant to wake me up so that I eat or I starve to death. Now, my assistant is dead and since the spell, I haven't slept or eaten. My body just needs to shut down, or I won't make it tomorrow." The mage explained as Adam carried him back to his room. What they heard instantly worried the two men, it didn't sound healthy at all. Now that he didn't have his assistant to look over him, they felt like Kaleb would probably waste away if not supervised. The mage was the type to not care about his health.

"Why didn't you eat last night? You could have gone out or had someone bring a snack to your room." Adam reprimanded as he put Kaleb on his bed. He wrapped the man in a cocoon with his covers as he felt that the mage's temperature was too low. Kaleb only shrugged, which made the warrior raise a brow. Feeling the tempest ready to fall on him, the mage hurried to explain.

"I couldn't move. I had spent the day with you all bouncy under the adrenaline, but once it started to wear off when we came to the inn, I started feeling dizzy. I told myself I would rest a little before heading out to eat, but once I sat on the bed, my body shut down. I woke up because of your screams and couldn't sleep all night, but neither could I move a finger. It's only this morning, a few minutes before crossing your path, that I started feeling my members again and I instantly went out to get food..." Kaleb muttered angrily, but now, Adam could see that the mage was mad at his body, and not at them.

"Ok, ok, don't work yourself up, ok? You need to stay calm." Adam tried to soothe Kaleb as he saw the shadows around the mage expand, and more black smoke coming out of his body, which wasn't a good sign as the mage looked even more tired like it was taking his vitality.

"Evan will get you something to eat and I will take care of you. What would you like to eat?" Adam asked the mage as he stroked his hair. It was easy to forget that Kaleb was older than them, mostly because he looked and acted so young. Even now, Kaleb woke up the parent inside Adam, making him recall when Ash got sick a few times in the past. The mage was like a child to them, which was strange, but not, at the same time.

It was just how Kaleb was.

Adam and Evan truly hoped the mage would find himself a good man who would take care of him and provide comfort. They could tell that Kaleb needed someone who could be both like a lover and a caretaker. The dark mage deserved it too.

"Mmm, I don't have much of an appetite in those times... and my stomach easily gets upset. Maybe something light like porridge, please?" Kaleb mumbled as his eyes started to close, a yawn escaping his lips once he was done placing his order. Evan answered that he would get that and headed out, letting Adam take care of the sick mage.

The warrior watched over the mage as he slept, gently stroking Kaleb's hair when he heard the man sleep-talk incoherently, but with furrowed brows and a crisped face. His sleep seemed perturbed and far from relaxed, which worried Adam. He could do nothing more than whisper that everything would be fine and stroke his head like one would do with a pet.

Kaleb always seemed so hyper and happy, seeing him distressed and sick like that was making a heavy feeling grow in Adam's chest, and he knew that Evan was feeling it too. It was like seeing a bubbly child suddenly turn gloomy and with empty eyes.

It just felt wrong.
