Evan explained the situation as best as he could to Dalia, Kaleb and Adam interjecting a few times to clarify or provide more details. The chef's face became grimmer as they went on, even Ben at her feet opening his eyes to look at them while they spoke. Once they were done, Dalia and Ben exchanged a glance before the man signed with a shake of his head and stood up, taking a seat beside his partner. The chef looked apologetically at him and then turned to face them.
"Well... that is a lot. We certainly didn't expect it. The drug must have spread only recently in the mountains as we found a few berserk animals the past weeks. They had the same symptoms that you spoke off, but we didn't think much of it." Dalia said as she tapped her bottom lip with her red painted nails, pondering over the mysteries of life maybe. Everything she did made her appear straight out of a famous painting of a goddess. If the three men before her weren't attracted to men only, they would have been salivating.
"First, we are glad to see that you seem to be doing well Evan. You even found love and friendship among the many trials you must have faced, which is a wonderful thing. We didn't forget about you, never. Like Nathalia must have explained, we hoped to find you one day and take our lost child back to the tribe. Many giants of your time are still alive, and deeply regret not having done more for you. It is now time to do what we should have done all those years back. We, the giants, will help you in your revolt. We shall provide weapons and man power, along with our best warriors. Ben, here, is the head of the warriors, he will take you to meet your new allies. Well, after changing of course." Dalia finished with a small laugh as she caressed Ben's hair, the man nearly purring at her touch.
"It will be my pleasure to help." Ben spoke for the first time, a deep voice with a gravely undertone. It suited his muscular figure, cropped brown hair and piercing silver eyes. It did not, however, fit the pink ribbon he had around the neck.
"Thank you, Kitty." Dalia said and she dismissed him with a wave so he could get changed, the giant bowing at the guests before leaving them alone. Adam raised a brow and pondered if Evan's kinks had been inherited from the giants' bloodline. He didn't dare ask out loud though.
"Thank you very much for your help! What amount of time do you need to be all ready? I will teleport us back." Kaleb beamed at Dalia, bouncing on his seat like a child who took too much sugar before bed. The chef's eyes followed the bouncing ball with much amusement, pondering for a bit before answering.
"I would say two days. We always need to be ready for an invasion or war, as giants didn't have the best relation with humans in the past. Yes, two days will be enough." The chef answered, making a rhythmic sound with her nails on her thigh covered in leather. Kaleb shouted an 'Awesome!' before opening his space and rummaging through it. For what, that was a mystery and it kept being a mystery as a knock was heard on the door, making him stop his search for the holy grail. Dalia shouted to enter and a neatly dressed Ben did so, covered in an imposing armor that screamed of bloodthirsty battles and numerous wars.
Kaleb gulped in the corner, of fear or lust, they would never know.
"I'm ready, Chef. I also took the liberty to ask a messenger to inform the warriors that they were being summoned for a war meeting. Of course, they know what this means." It meant that they could never come back, was what Ben left unsaid, but everyone in the room could hear the unspoken. Dalia nodded gratefully and then motioned for the three men to follow the giant.
"I would have loved to follow you to war, but my duties here keep me bound. I will let you discuss with Ben the best course of actions, as it is his strength. I would appreciate it if you could visit me at least one more time before your departure. And, Evan? I kept your father's things for you in the armory, do not hesitate to help yourself. It is all yours. Ben will show you where." They all nodded at her words, Evan bowing at her last sentences.
The ex-slave didn't know if he wanted to keep anything that belonged to his father in the past, but knowing that he had the option was warming his heart.
They followed Ben in the hallway, the warrior explaining how their troops worked, the training they received, and anything relevant that could help them fight together in better harmony. When they reached the training ground, the three men could tell exactly what the soldiers ate for breakfast and at what time they went to bed last night. Contrary to his rough features, Ben was a great talker who liked to yap about his troops with pride. The soldiers were like his children and he was a very proud dad.
Evan and Adam didn't mind listening to him talk, they had their own kids so they knew what it felt like. As for Kaleb, he had more... difficulties staying concentrated.
He went after a butterfly when they entered the gardens and they had lost sight of him after.
The dark mage was an adult, so they didn't worry too much and continued on their way, and now they had reached their destination with no Kaleb in sight. Adam shrugged when Ben asked if it was best to send a messenger after him, Kaleb wouldn't be of much help when talking strategies, the dark mage had said so himself. He was also still recovering from sore muscles and organs, so he probably wouldn't cause too many problems.
It was best to let him play with butterflies.
Ben brought the two lovers on a stage in the front of the training grounds, and once they were all up, they could see a sea of giants standing before them, holding various weapons and wearing serious expressions.
When they saw them, the giants all raised their weapons and screamed a warrior shout, looking ready to decapitate their foes.
Hey dear readers, I think this book will end at 150-200 ish chapters. I never would have thought that it would be so long, but I found myself fond of those characters and these settings.
I already have so many ideas for the next book!
I asked in the last chapter of Bite which settings readers would love and those are the most popular answer :
Mafia
Reincarnated / isekai
Mpreg (so many mpreg answers, we love those breedable men ;) only one person voted against mpreg, you know who you are XD)
Werewolf, dragon, mermaid (sooo shifters!)
I have yet to write the first two answers, so I'm excited about those settings! I already noted a few story lines which would contain all those answers (without making it overwhelming) and hopefully satisfy everyone... When I say a few I mean at least 15 different books I could write XD
But for now I will focus on finishing Path! If you have more ideas or want to vote for a setting, feel free to do so in the comments!
