"I'm fine." The slave said as he saw how panicked Adam looked. His master seemed to think that he would die. The warrior relaxed as he realized that Evan was only injured at his ribs. The reason why he was struggling to fight the snake was purely a matter of size. With the advantage that the monster had by being above Evan, it had been harder for the giant to fling the reptile away like he would have normally done.

The trio took back their fighting stances as the snake recovered from its injury, glaring at them fiercely. It had one eye closed, seemingly blind now, and water flew down his mouth from the snowball that Adam had made it ingest. It had difficulty slithering around because of its abdomen wound. Blaze had infused his fangs with lava, making the burning liquid invade the snake's veins from the inside. It wasn't deathly like it would have been with another creature, because the snake was still a fire type monster, but it hurt like hell for sure.

The snake tried to attack them with his fangs, but his speed was significantly less than before and his accuracy had diminished. Adam took this chance to send a bigger snowball right into the snake's mouth. Evan then easily sent an uppercut through the bottom of its jaw, making it close its mouth brutally. It let out a pained hiss as his fangs pierced his tongue. The snake had no choice but to swallow the snow with difficulty.

It glared at them as it prepared to attack again, but Adam had a different idea in mind.

"Distract it for a while, please." the warrior shouted at his two companions, taking a wide stance with his feet anchored into the ground, his hands coming into the form of a triangle before his chest. Evan and Blaze followed his lead without asking questions, making blows after blows rain down on the snake. The beast struggled to attack back as the two ants jumped around it, the beast couldn't properly concentrate because of the pain. The second it made a move to attack his foe, the other one would make a move. It was growing dizzy because of the lava in his veins, and it could only see with one eye.

All the while, Adam closed his eyes and concentrated on feeling the mana in the air. In this cave, it was mostly the snake's fire mana that would be felt, trying to burn at Adam's senses as he tried to focus on the ice one. Sweat dripped down his chin as his concentration reached its peak. He needed to empty his mind, to fully ignore the sound of the battle around him. It was a necessity that he trusted his companions to defend him as he was vulnerable.

Only by doing so would he be able to accomplish what he was trying to do.

With his mind now cleared of any disturbance, Adam could feel the weak flow of ice mana. In fact, it was in the form of water mana, but ice was first made from snow, and likewise, water was made from ice. Both elements were complementary. Now, Adam could see it.

People were stuck on creating their magic from absolutely nothing but mana, which was why rare attributes like ice were scorned upon. His teachers always became frustrated with him because he couldn't make ice appear from nowhere. Still, there were no rules when it came to magic. Nothing stopped mages from processing another type of mana or essence into their own mana.

With his mind empty of any useless thought, cleared from self-doubt and from the teaching of incompetent old men, Adam could now feel it. It was a weird feeling, one that overtook all his members and sent ants-like shivers all over his body.

He just... knew.

Without a single word, or even a move from his fingers placed before him, Adam opened his blue eyes. His pupils zoomed into the snake and as he blinked, ice spikes pierced the beast from the inside and transformed its body into a giant porcupine. Evan and Blaze hurried to get far from the beast as it struggled to stay alive. Adam had used the water accumulated into the snake's stomach to create those ice spikes. While he normally wouldn't be able to perform such high level magic, because the air lacked ice mana, using the water proved to reduce the mana cost greatly, allowing him to realize such a miracle. The snake may have had tough scales and impenetrable skin, its insides were just like any other living beings, soft and vulnerable. All its organs had been pierced, only its brain and heart were left to try and survive.

After a few seconds, the snake finally slumped down to the ground, dead.

Blaze howled in joy as he jumped around the corpse, seemingly taunting the now dead snake.

Evan approached the struggling warrior, Adam's mana having been completely depleted by the attack. The dark-skinned man had difficulty staying upright, choosing to lean his body against the wall. The cold feeling of stone cleared his hazy mind but he looked with unfocused eyes at his lover coming closer.

The giant gently laid the palm of his hand on Adam's forehead, feeling his burning skin. He carefully helped him wipe the sweat dripping down into his eyes, enjoying the soft flutter of his lover's eyelashes trembling under his touch.

"Can you help me sit down, please?" Adam's voice sounded hoarse as he asked Evan, needing to settle down on the ground to stop the cave from spinning. The slave quickly complied, making sure to slide his partner's body down slowly so as to not make him even more dizzy. Adam groaned in delight as his butt finally touched the cold ground, his back slumping against the wall behind him as he relaxed.

Evan glared at Baze as the fox yipped loudly in excitement. Intimidated, the beast shut his muzzle, his tail cowering between his legs as he trotted farther away. Evan nodded, enjoying the way the furry monster now obeyed him.

Adam quietly smiled, enjoying the interaction between his lover and their pet.
