Adam didn't speak a word during Evan's breakdown.

He held him through it and rubbed his back until the man had calmed down and his tears had dried, letting Evan empty his bag about all the wrong things his father did to him. He told his lover just how bad of a man his father was, but also how much he had loved him and had been proud of his strong father. The duality of his feelings had destroyed the little boy and made him into an angry repressed man that didn't know how to express how he fell and had sudden violent outbursts.

Adam only patted him, gently pushing the locks of brown hair away from his face covered in tears and snot. He knew Evan needed to live this moment with his own self, he was only there to offer a silent comforting presence.

It hurt, like physically hurt, to see his man in such a sobbing mess. To know just how much pain the slave had suffered was like receiving a blow in the thorax, cutting his breath short and making him see black spots. He wanted to kill someone, to bring justice to the little boy who was abused by his own father. He wanted to quench his thirst for blood, but came up empty as for which one to shed.

The one who deserved to rot in hell had already gone there, and couldn't be hurt anymore by mere mortals.

It felt frustrating, but Adam couldn't do anything other than rubbing his lover's back, silently willing his partner's nightmares away. He hoped that the giant would one day be at peace with himself.

Evan ended up as a tired mess once his emotions quieted down, his long hair a bird nest and his eyes bloodshot. Adam helped him wipe his face with a tissue, pecking each place once it was clean.

It brought a quiet chuckle out of his lover's mouth, which made Adam beam.

The giant finished looking around the room and settled for a light armor that would allow him to move fast and with flexibility for his fighting style. A beautiful dagger caught his eye, and seeing as it came in pairs, he gave the other one to Adam. The warrior didn't want to accept it at first, feeling guilty for taking anything, but the ex-slave forced it into his master's hands and he decided to relent for now.

If the person who inherited it gave it to him, it was alright to take it.

Evan wanted to find an armor for Adam too, but nothing fitted the human, so he had to settle for only this for now. Adam had the spear that he had bought with Abigail's advice, and the warrior was fond of it, so he didn't want to change it yet.

"I'm thinking of donating the rest to the giants to pay them for their help and fund the revolt, do you agree?" Evan asked Adam. He didn't want any of his old man's money and treasure, knowing that it must have been taken by force to the weak. They still had plenty of personal money from their days as adventurers and things to trade for because of the Aleksy's tribe.

Thinking of the tribe, it made him remember that Kaleb still had Athena's gift for the giants in his space. They would need to find him soon. They had been distracted while talking with Dalia and had forgotten to give it to her. It must have been what the mage was looking for when they were talking with her, before Ben interrupted his search.

Adam nodded at his lover's words, also feeling that they didn't need all the other stuff.

"Good, let's tell Ben and then go look for Kaleb. We still need to give Dalia her gift." Adam let out a sound of exclamation as he had also forgotten about both Kaleb and the gift until Evan reminded him.

In the corner of the garden, a crouching Kaleb sneezed and shed a tear as he wondered when someone would find him.

The couple headed out of the room, Ben nodding toward them once he saw them and ending the conversation he was having with a young giant. He shooed the man away, telling him to relay his message before turning to face them.

"So?" The silver eyed man asked with a smile, clearly acting like he couldn't see that Evan had cried his heart out to give the half-giant some privacy. He had probably heard everything the man had said too, as the door didn't look thick enough to contain the words shouted in anger and hurt by the ex-slave. Evan was grateful that the commander didn't utter a single word about this freeing episode, because it was a private and raw moment he had with himself and with his lover.

It didn't concern anyone other than them.

"We took this armor and those two daggers. We want to donate the rest to the giant to pay them for their help and to fund the revolt. Also, I need to have a few things custom-made. Do you know a good smith?" Evan answered as he pointed at the items they had taken out of the inventory. Ben took on a surprised expression before asking if they were sure of their choice. Evan confirmed that they had thought about it and were sure, which made the giant thank them profusely. Those funds would greatly help the village, or so he told them.

Evan and Adam only shrugged, awkward with receiving thanks or compliments.

"You can find Will, he's our best smith in town. He will do it for free, Dalia will pay him- and don't try to argue!" The commander ordered with a raised finger, making the couple nod hesitantly, clearly uncomfortable with the thought of not paying with their own money. Ben made a show of not knowing their thoughts as he guided them back toward the garden, he wouldn't let them back away from their acquiescement.

"So, where did our little puppy go?" Ben asked in a sing-song tone, looking right and left as they entered the garden. They walked in the alleys, shouting out for Kaleb and hoping he didn't, for some reason, follow a butterfly without looking where he was going, fell into a pit and died.

In fact, it wouldn't surprise them.

Hey dear readers, Kaleb is such an unlucky airhead...
