Taylor's POV
Thankfully I slept all the way through from 5am and didn't have any other disturbances. I could hear little sniffles and cries from my side of the bed at about 8:30 am but I wasn't able to see if Harper was standing there or not. I tried to roll over and look but Travis pulled me closer in his sleep.
"Trav, I need to lay on my back." I whispered. I felt him loosen his grip so I quickly turned onto my back and reached out an arm for Harper to get in. I heard her crying worse so I sat up and helped her onto the bed before laying her down. She hadn't brung any of her comfort things but I'm sure she'll find some sort of stuffed animal or pacifier on the bed somewhere.
"If you're going to cuddle you sleep okay?" I whispered and she nodded. She probably hadn't even slept yet so thankfully she completely crashed as soon as I lay down with her. I cuddled back up to Travis as best as I could and Harper just curled up next to me and slept. Finally!
The next morning I was woken up by Harper crying, again. Thankfully this time it was actually day time. I asked multiple times what was wrong and she just wouldn't say at all. "Harper, you have to tell me or I can't help." I told her. She just huffed and rolled her eyes at me before crying worse.
"You need to stop with the attitude or you will be in time out." I told her. She just rolled her eyes again and stomped off. I have mi idea what has gotten into her lately but I don't like it. "That's it, time out. I told her, pointing to a little chair in the corner of my room that is facing the wall.
Travis had gone out early to go to the gym and get some food and stuff for the house so it was just myself and harper. She looked at me with her big eyes and a little pout but I shook my head and continued to point at the chair. "Three minutes in time out." I told her and she just huffed and stoned over there.
"Do I need to double it for the stomping?" I asked and she shook her head before sitting down. I just left her to have her little meltdown. After her time out I decided to try again and ask what was wrong, she again just claimed that she didn't know.
I sighed and decided to get her ready as Travis and I had a few friends coming over to see us. As I started to change her clothes I noticed that she had also started to develop little spots on her tummy and there were a few starting to form on her face. I frowned a little and turned her around to check her back and there was definitely more than the previous night.
I immediately called Travis. "Travis, can you cancel our friends? Harper's not well." I told him.
"Yeah of course, what's wrong with her? Maybe that's why she was being a pain last night." He asked. I sighed and checked her over once more before sending him a picture of her back and stomach. "Are those chickenpox?" He asked me.
"Yep. I think so." I replied. "I can't believe I thought nothing of it last night when I saw a couple of spots on her back." I told him. Travis came back with some medicine to try to help her feel a little bit better.
Harper was so clingy it was ridiculous, she refused her lucky charms and by lunchtime she was also refusing her lunch. She really want herself at all, normally she's so playful. I put her down for a minute to go make lunch and she had a whole meltdown. "I know, it's not nice is it? I'll tuck you in on the sofa, you can watch tv with daddy and I will go make lunch."
She just cried but I got her everything she wanted and tucked her in next to Travis on the sofa. I watched her climb into his lap and cuddle up a little. Once I made her a little sandwich and handed her it she started whining and just pushed it away. This is the one thing I didn't need. Chicken pox could be dealt with but her having no appetite after how her past 3 days had been was concerning me.
Travis must have seen my stress because he reached up and grabbed my hand. "Calm down Tay, it's all good just leave it with her and she will come back to it." He told me and I nodded a little. I just sat by him and placed my head down on his shoulder.
I hate any time she is sick or extra clingy because it usually means I can't do anything, I was supposed to have a meeting but that had to be canceled because Harper wouldn't let me out of the door. It was a long day with a lot of tears so when bedtime came I was so relieved.
I had hoped that with how rough the night before had been that she would just sleep straight through but I was wrong. I tried to settle her down 30 minutes earlier than usual, at 6:30 but she just wouldn't. She wanted to be with me and any time I moved away she freaked out. The only problem is, I didn't want to go to bed at 6:30 just so that she could.
"Okay I will make you a deal, Harper. I'll make you a nice warm bath to make you nice and sleepy then I'll get you all wrapped up warm and you can go to sleep in my bed but I won't be going to bed until a little later." I told her. I made sure that she knew I wasn't messing around tonight and she has to sleep so she nodded a little and sat by me while I filled up the bathtub.
"Mommy get in." She whispered while hugging me.
"No baby, I'm okay. You need to get in. I'll have a bath while you're asleep." I told her but she started crying a little. The thought of getting in the bathtub with her was a little bit awkward for me but she didn't seem to want to settle. I tried making her go in alone at first but she hates the bath anyway and started screaming because I had forced her to get in.
"Okay, okay honey I'm getting in. Calm down." I told her as I quickly took off my clothes and got in the bath. She quickly hugged onto me and just lay there starting to fall asleep. "Harper I need to wash your hair then you can cuddle." I told her.
She huffed a little bit, turned around and put her head back so that I could put in some shampoo and rinse it out. I made sure to put my hand on her forehead and stop any bubbles getting in her eye but she started whining afterwards. "Okay baby, not long I just have to put some conditioner on your ends."
Instead of just being patient she shook her head and hugged me again. I sighed and just put a little bit on her hair before rinsing it out and letting her stay cuddled to me. I then realized I didn't even bring in a towel for myself just harper. "Um Travis!" I yelled.
"Yeah?" He replied.
"Please could you bring me a towel?" I asked him. He came in with a towel and tossed it on the floor but I didn't really have any hands. "And can you please take the child from me and wrap her up so that I can wrap myself up please?" I asked.
He came in and laughed a little at Harper who had fallen asleep on me. I handed her off to him and he got her wrapped up and just cuddled her while I got into some pajamas. I then took her to get in her own pajamas then tucked her in the middle of our bed.
Finally getting a break from the hectic day that we had just endured we eventually got to relax downstairs and just cuddle watching tv together. Considering we never get to do this it was nice to have that little break.
