Taylor's POV
Harper hasn't been doing too great, not at all. Her panic attacks were getting more frequent and harder to calm down. She had also begun to develop severe anxiety around the house which caused various different types of accidents. One of these relates to pee and bedtime.
I woke up in the night to the horrible feeling of dampness next to me. I turned to look at Harper who was fast asleep. Slowly pulling back the covers I noticed the dampness that she was laying in and could only imagine the discomfort that it would be making her feel. We thought that by putting her in our bed it may stop her and make her feel okay to ask to go pee if she needed too but it clearly didn't work. "Oh honey," I whispered as I picked her up.
She woke up in my arms and began to cry a little realizing what had happened. I bounced her a little and picked up her blankie which thankfully hadn't gotten wet. I handed it over to her before handing her one of my hoodies and placing her down on the floor. "Can you go grab mommy some pajamas and I will help you get changed?" I asked her and she nodded rubbing off.
I made my way over to Travis' side of the bed and tapped his shoulder before leaning down to kiss his forehead. "Trav we've got an issue, you need to get up." I told him. He started to complain however he soon jumped off when he rolled over into the wet patch and realized the issue at hand.
"You go help her out, I'll clean it up." He told me as he started stripping the bed. I made my way to harpers room where she was sleepily looking through her pajama draw, rubbing her eyes and whining at both the discomfort and sleepiness that she felt. Despite how much I had avoided bringing out the pull ups I knew that at this time she needed to get back in bed quickly and comfortably. It was only one am so the possibility of another accident was high.
"Harpie, i'm gonna put you in a pull up, would you feel okay with that? It's just in case you need it." I asked her. She just nodded and rubbed her eyes more, starting to whine worse. I just picked her up and took her over to my bathroom where I ran her a little bath. She continued to wine the whole time.
"Awww I know I'm sleepy too. Not long now baby girl, not long." I told her as I took off her wet onesie and placed her in. I helped wash her off while she fought against me, trying to get out and get me to hold her. Eventually I wrapped her up in a towel and took her out to go get pajamas on. I passed Travis who had already showered and was heading to the guest room signaling that we were gonna sleep in there.
"If I get her sorted and pass you some pajamas can you get her in them while I wash myself off?" I asked him and he nodded. I quickly lay her down, encouraging her to stay awake by passing her a toy to look at before finding a box full of pull ups. Due to wanting to foster we had all the baby stuff we needed just in case one was put in our care.
I put it on her before quickly handing her off to Travis for him to get her In pajamas and in bed. I made my way to the bathroom and quickly showered and got into some fresh pyjamas and made my way to the guest room where Harper was crying in Travis' arms.
As soon as I walked in she fought away from Travis and made her way over to me. I smiled a little and scooped her up, holding her close to me before laying beside Travis. Thankfully she calmed easily once I had found her a pacifier and tucked her in near us.
The next day was what worried me. We were going to stay at my moms house for the weekend and I had no idea how harper would hope staying in someone else's house especially since she wouldn't know how to find me or Travis if she needed us in the night. I also had been worrying about how she would find the car ride there.
We decided to do a road trip there instead of actually flying, I wanted her to experience a normal life and who doesn't love a family car journey. Travis told me he wanted to drive as well instead of having a security guard drive us as he claimed that then maybe Harper would feel more normal being able to not constantly be surrounded by security too. I told him I wouldn't mind driving if he didn't want to but he insisted.
We loaded everything into the car at about 7am and allowed Harper to sleep until 10 while we had a nice quiet coffee and relaxed before the stressful day. Eventually I managed to convince Travis that he should brave trying to wake her up and he brought her downstairs. I told her numerous times to choose some toys but she was way too tired and fussy to do that so she will just have to deal without them.
I did however make sure to pack her a little backpack with snacks, her comfort items and some blankets as well as a lot of bottles of water. I also ensured to bring a pull up and a spare change of clothes in case she got anxious and couldn't ask. I didn't bother too much about entertainment for on
the way I figured she could use mine or Travis' phone.Once she had some cereal in a little bowl we buckled her in and let her eat on the way, it would pass time and we burg knew that she would be distracted by trying to find all the marshmallows in her lucky charms. Bad mistake. The second we went over a small bump the lucky charms were everywhere but the bowl and harper was not happy at all.
"What's wrong sweetie?" I told her, spinning around in my seat to face her. I took off my seatbelt at the first red light possible and climbed over to sit by her. She cried and showed me her empty bowl which she clearly thought was the end of the world. I laughed a little at her pouty face but she started kicking her legs and getting frustrated.
"Ok, ok are you just hungry? I brought other foods." I told her and she nodded, finally calming and just starting to wine. I smiled and handed her a banana, making sure I peeled it for her first and then climbing back to the front. From then it went quite smoothly. We had a few meltdowns over various things but not too bad to handle.
"Harps, do you need to go to the bathroom?" I asked her after a few hours, I didn't exactly feel like dealing with any accidents so I planned on keeping up with it. I heard no response so I turned to look at her only to get a very hesitant look back. She slowly shook her head a little and I nodded.
"Have you already done it in your pants?" I asked her. She just looked at me and gave no response.
"Would you tell me if you needed to go?" I questioned and she shook her head. Great. I moved the blanket away that was covering her before a huge sigh escaped my mouth.
"Travis, we need to stop at the next chance. We've had an accident."
Not what I needed within the first few hours.
