Taylor's pov

I had a great system going, Harper eats or she has a nutrition shake and she also has to have one per day on top of that. We had also found vitamin gummies and she had been to a doctor who was now going to keep track of her weight and do monthly blood tests to ensure she didn't end up with low iron or anything. Bedtime hasn't gotten too much better, she still kicks and screams even after a couple of weeks in the house but we were working on it.

Ellie was now doing online courses in dance and taking extra dance classes each week that we were paying for privately. We recently turned a spare room into a small dance studio and the girls practically live in there. Harper hasn't ever taken a dance class in her life but she loved having Ellie teach her some cool dance tricks.

Today Ellie's dance teacher was coming over for a 3 hour session with Ellie but Harper had no idea that she was going to have a small one hour lesson after too. I had even gotten her a little dance outfit too. She is starting ballet and tap so I had also gotten her some ballet shoes and tap shoes too.  I couldn't wait to show her them and watch her first ever dance class too.

Ellie went up for her dance class just after lunch so I got Harper put down for a nap and took Travis a drink while he was filming for the podcast. This was on his request not mine. I don't like having to take things in while he's filming as I don't want to overstep but he asked so I couldn't say no. "Hey Tay!" He said as I put the drink down next to him. I wasn't in the frame of the camera so I smiled and waved.

"Come chat with us for a few minutes." He suggested. I was hesitant but Jason also convinced me as well. I awkwardly perched on the edge of Travis seat and sat with them for a while. Travis put his arm around my waist to keep me close and any time I seemed nervous he gently squeezed me to show he was there.

"Are you okay with us posting this?" He asked and I nodded. If they wanted to have me be a part of the podcast then I had no problems with that, as long as I get to see it before it gets posted. We chatted for a while about football. Well they chatted and every now and then I answered a few questions about how I felt watching Travis play. Then the topic moved on.

"So what is it like having a toddler and a teenager while also balancing your busy lives?" Jason asked. I looked at Travis, expecting him to answer but instead he nodded to me. I then heard crying coming towards the room. Harper came through the door crying and looking very sleepy.

"Sorry she's just woken up from her nap. Come here baby, it's okay mommy's here. I can take her outside, thanks for having me though." I told them. Travis shook his head and stopped me. I carefully picked up Harper by her armpits and placed her in my lap facing me. I carefully rubbed her back and tried to help her calm down while also answering the question.

"It's been okay, very busy for us both. We do a lot of alternation. Having a teenager isn't too hard, especially because she helps out a lot with this little one. I'd say the hardest part is probably the tempers. Ellie has such a short temper so sometimes she does snap and get a bit sassy with us and Harper is just a little madam. She is constantly screaming or crying or giving attitude. That's probably the hardest part. It's also difficult when we both have to work early the next day and Harper won't sleep. We're working on it though." I told Jason. He smiled and watched as I carefully rocked myself and harper from side to side, trying to send Harper back off to sleep.

"She's absolutely adorable. It's amazing to see how quickly she calmed as soon as she came to you." Jason stated. This time I looked up to Travis. I probably could give a better answer but I needed to focus on harper.

"Yeah, Harper has a lot of struggles with calming down that we have picked up on. We have learnt that the way she is comforted can have a huge impact on how easily she can calm down. She finds it hard to move on from an upset state and if she isn't held in a certain way or a certain tone isn't used she will panic and cry even more. Taylor thankfully picked up on this very quickly and she is very good at knowing what she needs and wants. Ellie has also been quite good at calling Harper down recently too. We all communicate a lot in order to help harper through these emotions so no matter what family member she is with we know she will be comfortable. It's something that takes time but is critical when you're dealing with a child with a background like harpers. Tay is just her favorite." Travis explained.

We had started being a lot more open about our family life in interviews and on the podcast. We wanted to show how the whole adoption and foster process isn't easy for anyone and the true struggles that come with it. Despite Ellie being very easy, Harper had been quite tricky since day one. She's required a lot more comfort and help than we imagined she would need meaning it has made it difficult to work while also keeping her calm.

Travis and I both post the girls quite often now, we want to feel like a normal family and be able to post our family photos proudly. We decided that since there's pictures of both girls from being on stage spread all around the world we might as well also post little family pictures that we actually can approve of. It keeps people quiet and stops them trying as desperately to get paparazzi pictures spread of us all.

I looked down and noticed that Harper was fast asleep against my front and I wanted to check up on Ellie so I carefully moved Harper so that her head was laying on my shoulder then stood up. "I'm so sorry to interrupt but thank you for having me, I'm going to get Harper tucked up in bed so she can finish her nap. It was a pleasure to be involved." I told them before waving goodbye and sneaking off. Travis told me he wouldn't be too long so I gave a thumbs up before walking away to the living room where I put Harper down and covered her up.

I then went upstairs to the dance room to check in on Ellie. "Hey could I get a drink for either of you?" I asked and Ellie nodded, handing over her water bottle. I filled it up for her and took it back up then by the time I got back downstairs Harper decided to be fully awake. She was just in time because I heard my name being called from upstairs followed by some distant wailing.

I ran upstairs to where Ellie was on the floor holding her ankle and sobbing in pain. I made my way over and knelt beside her. "She hasn't broken it I can tell but she did twist it and land funny on it so it is going to hurt. As her dance teacher u suggest you get some ice on it and keep it rested for the next couple of days. No more dancing for today."

Ellie tried to protest by jumping up and trying to dance but as soon as pressure was put on her foot she winced in pain and almost collapsed to the floor. I grabbed around her waist and helped her to get downstairs and on the sofa. She continued to sob in pain while I got her some ice and also got harper ready to have her quick class.

Once I sent Harper in, I sat by Ellie and put the security cameras for the dance room on the tv. We watched her trying her best at each move and it was adorable. Ellie was still crying in pain but every now and then I put my fingers through her hair and gently pressed a kiss on the top of her head. This seemed to cheer her up slightly. This injury just wasn't what we needed with the events of week coming up that we had planned.
