Part 75

Taylor's POV

When we got inside Ellie ran straight up to her room and locked the door. I couldn't argue with her anymore so I just left her to it and carried Harper up to bed. Unfortunately she woke up just as I was putting her down. "Stay with me." She whined.

"Harper, I want to go to bed. I'm tired. It's been a long day with Ellie and I just want some time to myself." I replied but she shook her head and refused to let go of me. She just started crying and hugged me. "It's not my fault though." She whispered.

It's true, she didn't have any say in what happened today and wasn't even part of it. It made me feel awful for taking it out on her and letting my day affect how I was with her but sometimes I just want my own bed and own space. "Okay, you had a busy day today so if you stay on your own you will be asleep so fast. If you stay with me then it might take you a while to get to sleep and your body needs energy for when you see grandma tomorrow." I told her. I tried to change my tone and make it seem more exciting than it actually was but she didn't seem too convinced.

"I'M NOT GOING!" She screamed out of nowhere. I was quite taken back in that moment. Travis must have heard because he appeared in the doorway asking what happened. He saw Harper and just opened his arms for her. She immediately ran over to him crying and refusing to go to her grandmas.

"Deal with your kid, I'm going to bed." I told him, patting him on the back on my way out. Harper and Travis are getting so close now and I feel like she's drifting from me. She only does this because he's weak and gives in when she asks him to stay until she's asleep. I have some strength and actually say no.

I shouldn't be this grumpy with him but for some reason it hurts seeing her run for him instead of me, she's always been so close to me since the start so it's so weird watching her drift.

Travis came back in about an hour later and just got in bed in silence. I tried to cuddle up but he moved away. My heart sank, I had hurt him because of my jealousy. Before I could answer Travis I heard a knock on the door and Ellie entered. "I can't sleep." She whispered.

"I'll come lay with you. I think we should maybe reconcile, don't you?" I told her. She nodded slowly and I could see Travis' eyes on me.

We spent a while talking and apologizing for what we did to hurt each other and eventually she fell asleep against me. I don't want to disturb her so I just lay down and fell asleep there too.

Early the next morning I went downstairs to see Travis and Harper already downstairs. They both looked exhausted and Harper looked upset. "Happy you hurt your daughter?" Travis asked me. I frowned and looked at Harper who was Sobbing and lying against Travis while he made her breakfast.

I just stayed silent and looked down.

We got ready and then Travis helped Harper get ready. She gets to stay at my moms house and Ellie is staying here alone. We are having a date night and getting dinner together and spending a nice night out since we try to go out together once a week at least.

When we dropped off harper she screamed and cried but she wouldn't even say bye to me. Just Travis. Tears were burning in my eyes so I made my way to the car where I completely broke down into tears, waiting for Travis to return. As he got in he looked over at me and noticed. I felt him put his arm around me and kiss the top of my head.

"She isn't going near me. She couldn't even say bye to me. How can she say she's upset that I didn't sleep in her bed last night but slept in Ellie's bed when she won't even go near me! I'm so done with it all I wish I never fucking bothered adopting her. We should have just found her and sent her to an orphanage." I told him. I took it too far and I knew as soon as I said it that I shouldn't have.

"Don't you dare say that because you know you don't mean it. You're so close with that little one and she just felt hurt that you weren't there when she wanted you but then you went to Ellie. She came in in the night and stood at your side of the bed crying and begging for you and you weren't there. The more you refuse to be there when she asks the less she will ask and the more she will push you away. You know she can't voice her opinion so she is going to start finding it hard to ask you to stay with her." Travis replied.

I continued to cry so Travis got out and went to the door. I saw him walking over with Harper and he came around to my car window. He held her facing me and her expression was so bland. "Say bye bye to mommy for the night." He told her.

She gave me a wave and he held her closer telling her to give me a kiss but she shook her head and turned away. I started crying worse and turned her around to face me. "Bye bye, I love you and I'll see you tomorrow. Be good for grandma." I told her through tears before kissing her cheek.

She wiped it away and went inside.

When Travis got in he reached over for my hand. "Don't get upset. She's a toddler and she will forgive you by tomorrow but she was scared she had an accident last night and she wanted you. I know you have to give your attention to Ellie but you could have left her after she fell asleep and you did not need to say no to Harper. If she asks you to stay with her she's asking for a reason because it's not easy for her to ask. And I mean it don't you ever say those words about not wanting her ever again!" He told me. I nodded slowly and watched him set off driving.

Sorry this is so rushed but I didn't want to leave it too long. This has literally been written by n random gaps of time so if some of it is kind of disconnected that's why because I also haven't had time to proof read.
