Taylor's POV
I got Harper some chicken nuggets and a bowl of lucky charms as well as a sippy cup of apple juice then got her in her seat at the table. She seemed so hesitant to take a bite of her food but with a lot of reassurance she started eating. I could tell after a while she was full and struggling to finish it but she was terrified of wasting any food.
She was forcing it into her mouth but looked desperate to be done. "Honey, don't force it. It's okay, you can leave the rest." I told her, moving the plate away. She looked at me with fear in her eyes and a mouth full of food that she couldn't bring herself to finish. I panicked that she would choke so I reached out my hand and let her spit it out.
Once I cleaned everything up Travis and I grabbed the small box we had been saving and took her to the sofa. Travis held the envelope and I held the small box in my hand. She was wrapped up all warm and looked terrified of being told off but the opposite was happening. In fact she needed to be excited.
We handed the little envelope to her and watched as she opened it confused. She looked at the certificate that had come in the mail a couple of days ago and frowned. She can't read so I handed her the little box. She took the top off and inside was a heart shaped locket with the letters KS engraved on the front. On the back it has small writing saying "Baby Kelce-Swift" and inside was a picture of all four of us.
"Baby, you're officially ours. That's the adoption certificate to prove it." I told her with tears filling my eyes. She looked at it for a while then back up at me. "Ellie has the same." She told me.
I nodded and brought the locket around my neck out from under my shirt. Mine had an S engraved on the front and Travis had a bracelet on his wrist with a K on it. "It has KS and that stands for Kelce-Swift. You're officially part of our family and it's permanent now. You have the same as Ellie because that's what we got Ellie when she was adopted." I explained.
She looked up at us both with excitement filling her eyes. Travis picked up the locket and put it around her neck before wiping away his own tears. "I not going anywhere?" She asked us.
"Nope, you're never leaving us again baby. Ours forever. Can I give you a hug?" I asked her. She nodded and started crying which set me off. I felt her little arms wrap around my neck as she stood on the sofa to reach me. I returned the hug and picked her up, holding her close to me and spinning her around a couple of times.
"The proof is all in those papers. We're going to get your name changed to Kelce-Swift. It's up to you if you still want to keep Noelle as your middle name or not but I think Harper Noelle Kelce Swift is a beautiful name. It's your decision though." I explained. She nodded and squeezed me tighter. I had gotten Ellie's locket picture changed to the same picture as mine and Harper's.
We had waited so long to adopt her and there had been so many complications and setbacks but when the papers finally came through Travis and I sobbed for hours on end. Ellie was also excited to finally be Harper's official sister and it's so cute to see her excitement about it too. We booked a reservation for the evening to celebrate so I headed up to get Harper ready. "Why don't you tell Ellie the news?" I asked.
Harper ran into Ellie's room brimming with excitement. "Ellie, look, we're sisters! I have one too!" She squealed as she skipped into Ellie's room showing her necklace. Ellie hadn't even realized Harper was back yet so she immediately scooped her up and held her extra tightly. I stood in the doorway, leaning against the door frame with my arms crossed and a huge smile on my face.
Ellie wiped some teases away behind Harper's back before looking over at me and smiling. "We're going out to eat so be ready for 5:30. Come on Harper, let's get you in the bath." I said. Ellie nodded and headed to her bathroom and I took Harper for a bath.
We all got ready and got a family picture for Instagram. At first I hated posting family things on Instagram and documenting my private life to the world but why can't I be a proud mom? I should get to use my Instagram just like any other mom would. I added the picture with the caption...
Taylor Swift: and finally Little Kelce Swift is officially ours... you've brightened our days for so long now and mommy and daddy can't wait to see you spread your brightness within our family for so many years to come. We're not going anywhere and neither are you so keep on smiling baby girl!
With that I posted it and we headed off to the restaurant.
Harper was still on edge so I kept her close and allowed her to have the pacifier the whole time. She clung to her blankie and Billy bear and also wouldn't let me put her down. She immediately climbed into my lap when I put her down on the seat which I found adorable too. Despite our argument when she ran away she couldn't deny the fact that she was desperate for some of my comfort when she ran away.
She seemed to relax as the night went on however just as I thought everything was going great harpers entire body tensed against me. I noticed she had an accident and she looked terrified. When I looked to the side I couldn't even contain my anger.
"What the fuck is he doing here?" I asked the light gritted teeth.
