Taylor's pov
The next morning Harper and I had to get up early and head to the hospital for some X-rays on her arm. They wanted to check that everything was healing correctly. I was slightly concerned because they said 4-6 weeks for healing and it had already been 4 but she was still in a lot of pain from it.
We got there and Harper was complaining that she wanted Ellie. Thankfully Travis agreed to bring Ellie and we ended up with a family trip to the hospital. Ellie held onto Harper's hand while they took the cast off and we only had a few tears, mostly because of the noise. Unfortunately the doctor said it wasn't looking too good, her swelling hadn't gone down much.
Poor Harpie screamed when they took her for an X-ray and told her that no one could sit with her. When she came out she for some reason didn't want me or Travis instead she went to Ellie. Ellie smiled and hugged her until she calmed down then put her between Travis and I. I gave my phone to her so that she could watch something and be distracted.
Ellie quickly jumped up and headed to the bathroom so I took a look around and noticed the one person I HATE. Billy Bob.
I left Travis with Harper and ran to the bathroom to find Ellie standing around on her phone. I tried to get her to come back and sit with us but she shook her head and refused. "No I can't look at him, I'll go mad at him and I don't want to do that. He infuriates me mom." She told me.
"I hear what you're trying to say and I understand but you can't hide away from him forever, honey. We will not let him say anything, we've got security, no one can come near us." I told her. She nodded and followed me out. I gave Billy a dirty look before sitting down with her. I gave Harper to her to keep her distracted and Harpie was in a very chatty mood.
We got told that unfortunately her arm hadn't healed properly and wasn't healing very well at all. They put a new cast on Harper and this time she chose purple... she must be a speak now girlie. We then got told that they would put her through for a surgery within the next few days.
I looked down and on the way back Travis and I discussed how we would explain it to her. Thankfully she was asleep so when we got home we sent her straight to bed. "You do know that if she is told she's going for surgery she won't want to go right?" I told Travis. He nodded and sighed. Neither of us wanted her to ever have to have it operated on and we didn't even think it would have ended like that.
A few days later we got her up for her surgery. She was confused as to why she wasn't allowed breakfast. I refused to tell her any more than that the doctors wanted to see her arm and told her no food or drink until after her appointment.
When we took her and she was finally laying down we decided to tell her. "Okay baby, they're going to put you to sleep so that they can properly look at your arm, is that okay? We will be here waiting for you when you're done." I told her. She started to panic and tried to get up but the doctors soon came in with all of the equipment.
"Ellie!" She cried, reaching out for her big sister's hand. Ellie jumped up and held her hand and I also stood by her, gently brushing through her hair with my hand to keep her calm. Travis was trying to fill funny faces and distract her. Once she was asleep they took her away and left us in the room to wait.
I was absolutely terrified the whole time, I was worrying about if anything went wrong. Or what if she woke up in the middle of the surgery and panicked. I've heard too many horror stories about those things. Travis tried to calm me down and so did Ellie but I couldn't even focus on that, I didn't want to talk about anyone I was too worried about my baby.
I held onto her bear and her blankie for the whole time and tried to remember that it's better for her to have surgery than to have a broken arm permanently. Even though it's not an extreme surgery and her appendix surgery was worse and more serious than this.
Eventually she got wheeled back in and I sighed in relief. She was still asleep so I tucked her in with her blankie and bear and sat watching her every minute of the day. Travis eventually forced me to eat and by the time I was done Harper woke up. I had never jumped up so fast in my life.
She managed to keep down some food so thankfully they sent us home almost immediately after a few vitals and checks. We got her on the sofa and made sure that someone was with her at all times. I was quite shocked that she mostly just wanted Ellie. I think she enjoys having a big sister and she seems to find a lot of comfort in Ellie too. It's so cute that they're so close and it's amazing how much Ellie hopped into the big sister role.
Travis had to go to his filming room and sort out his podcast so I left the two to cuddle and watch tv for some time while I sorted out dinner. It was perfect timing because as I finished cooking Travis came over for dinner and to help me plate everything up.
Harper ignored hers because she didn't feel up to it so I didn't push too much and Ellie seemed very distracted. She had her phone hidden under the table. "Ellie no phones at the dinner table please."
I told her.She quickly put it down and looked down. "He won't leave me alone." She whispered.
"Who?" I asked.
"Billy..." she murmured. Great. Not what we need.
