It must have been almost 2am when Taylor's phone started buzzing on her bedside table. After a late night dealing with a fussy harper who wouldn't go to sleep the exhausted young woman slowly rolled over and tried to ignore it; however Travis' phone then went off. When Travis also missed a call she heard her phone again. Taylor groaned a little, sitting up and reaching over to answer.
"Mom, I'm on my way home in an Uber, my friends just left me alone and I had some alcohol and I know I shouldn't have but I'm so scared please mom just open the door I'm nearly home." She heard. It took a second for Taylor to process who it was. Ellie. She quickly jumped up and put on one of Travis' T-shirts which she had been sleeping in until she got a bit too warm in the night.
She made her way to the living room and patiently waited for the return of her teenage daughter.
After the tough breakup Ellie had gone back to college in order to be around her friends and take her mind off things. It was only her second day back and she was already coming home upset and drunk despite being under age. Taylor was exhausted, Harper had been upset and not sleeping well due to Ellie leaving and with trying to keep her sleeping in her own bed Taylor was up and down taking her back to bed in the night. Travis would help too but while he was training she wanted to make sure he still got a healthy amount of sleep.
Eventually she heard a knock on the door.
The tall blonde made her way over and unlocked the door opening up to the teen who was sobbing. She looked terrified and was practically green, indicating she had drunk just a bit too much. Taylor carefully guided her inside and over to the sofa but it wasn't long before the teen ran to the bathroom.
Taylor sighed and followed, carefully kneeling down beside her and pulling her hair back. It was safe to say that she was mortified at the outfit the 18 year old was wearing. She had to push the thoughts aside at that second. Soon enough Ellie pushed back a little. "I'm too hot, I need fresh air." She told Taylor.
"Okay honey, let's get you onto the balcony." She told the girl, grabbing a bucket just in case and taking her outside. Ellie didn't even make it onto a chair she just sat down in the floor, head in the bucket throwing up. Taylor grabbed a hair tie off her wrist and carefully put Ellie's hair into a ponytail before gently rubbing her back.
"Ellie, I know you're feeling a lot of emotions right now but crying isn't going to help with anything." She whispered. Ellie nodded a little and let Taylor wipe away her tears before throwing up again.
Travis made his way outside to see what all of the commotion was. As soon as he saw the state of Ellie on the ground and Taylor next to her he could tell what had happened. The poor girl just couldn't stop. She no longer had any color in her face.
Travis went inside and came back with a large glass of water and Taylor managed to encourage the girl to have some. She already knew the day after was going to be horrible for the poor girl. She couldn't even feel bad because part of her understood that Ellie was just hurting and trying to find a way to forget about it. Unfortunately it had just made her worse.
The couple soon heard commotion coming through their phones. They each had an app that connected to the monitor in Harper's room so that they couldn't risk anyone getting to her. They could also use their phones to speak through the monitor to her and get her to sleep again without going to her. The toddler began to ask for Taylor who had found herself in a slight predicament with the teen who was now throwing up again.
"Harper, go back to sleep baby girl. I will come and say night night in a little bit." She said through the phone but Harper began to cry and ask for her even more. Ellie dropped her head onto Taylor's shoulder, she still felt so sick but she was ready for her bed.
